The Texas Long Range Plan for Technology began in 2006 and aims to integrate technology into education through 2020. It provides for technology-aligned curriculum standards, quality digital instructional materials, equitable access to technology for students and teachers, and ongoing professional development for educators. The plan aims to prepare technology-literate teachers, engage students in real-world learning with digital tools, and provide community leadership and support for innovative learning environments. Currently, Texas schools have developing technology use with 5-9 students per computer and minimal individual student use. The goal is target technology integration with student-centered, technology-supported projects and curriculum, and fully-equipped digital classrooms.
