 It is stronger than fibers that interweaved together
 The higher strength to weight ratio of carbon fiber.
Modular Design
 The individual arms can be replaced rather than the entire frame.
 More economical repairs and less down time.
Glass Filled Injected Nylon Components
 Strong material
Eight Rotor Configuration
Payload Capability
(approximately1 kilogram )
 The four sets of matched counter rotating rotor blades provide differential thrust from four
equally spaced points.
Increased Stability in the Wind
 The Draganflyer X8 weighs approximately 1700 grams and has the increased thrust of 8
counter-rotating rotors which allows it to be much more stable in windy conditions.
 The larger size and weight of the Draganflyer X8 make it a very stable helicopter to fly.

 minimum thrust lost to sound output.
 The rotor blades have less turbulence when spinning.
 direct drive motors reduces moving parts and eliminates gear box noise.
 hovering: less than approximately 78dB of sound at one meter (3 feet).
GPS
GPS Position Hold system
 to concentrate on taking great pictures and video with out the need to
continually control the helicopter.
 Once you are in position you can ascend or descend in a vertical column
simply by using the Spring Centered Throttle (SCT) control.
 The camera is panned by using the helicopters yaw controls to move left
and right and then can be tilted up and down.

 KMZ files are compatible with many 3D earth viewing programs, including Google Earth.
 The Handheld GCS automatically logs each flight to a KMZ file.
 You can quickly and easily import a KMZ file to your computer and see exactly where the
helicopter was during your flight.
 Photos are geo-tagged, with each picture you take marked on the display.
 Important flight information, such as battery levels, GPS position errors, and other sensor
readouts are also logged using the onboard flight computer and black box data recorder.
IP Camera Support
 The Handheld GCS supports viewing and saving video from IP cameras.
 IP cameras work by sending wireless video digitally, over an 802.11n wifi network.
 IP cameras are not limited to resolutions supported by NTSC or PAL standards. IP cameras
can transmit megapixel resolution video at a rate of up to 30fps.
 Because IP cameras use a digital protocol to transmit information, they are virtually
impervious to random noise and interference.
 In the event of poor signal quality, frame rate drops while image quality remains the same.
 IP cameras also have an internal memory buffer, which allows you to capture still pictures
while the camera is still recording video.
Built in DVR
 The Handheld GCS supports recording received video directly to its internal solid state
memory.
 The video is recorded in a standard format that can be easily imported to almost any software
program for editing or publication.
Advanced Power System
Electric Powered Flight
 A specially designed lithium polymer battery
 The battery supplies the power to the eight brushless electric motors which provide enough
thrust for the helicopter to carry up to approximately 1 kilogram in payload.
Fast Charging Lithium Polymer Battery
 A lithium polymer battery is used because its unique chemistry allows it to be significantly
lighter and higher capacity than an equivalently shaped conventional rechargeable battery.
 A custom designed 5400 mAh lithium polymer battery which provides power for both flying
and camera systems.
 The Draganflyer X8 battery has integrated power and balance connectors that make charging
simple with the included charging station.
 Recharging the battery with the Draganflyer X8s charging system takes approximately 30
minutes.
Efficient & Lightweight Carbon Fibre Rotors
 Durable and lightweight
 These rotors are molded into a shape engineered for optimal thrust at maximum efficiency.
 The added benefit of these high efficient rotors is that it also results in less noise while
maintaining longer flight times.
High Performing Brushless Motors
 twice power than conventional brushed electric motors,
 longer life time (no brushes to wear out)
 maintenance free
 extremely quiet
 longer flight times
 without gears
Damage Tolerance
Tough Carbon Fibre Frame
 high quality military grade carbon fibre (most durable)
 Carbon fibre is impervious to rust and does not decay
Durability & Strength
 to stand up to a significant amount of stress during flight (because of using carbon fibre and
glass-filled injected nylon plastic)
 The frame has been designed to be rigid in order to improve flight response while at the same
time able to absorb vibration.
Folds on Impact
This is made possible by the strong clips that hold the arms in place as they absorb energy when
they unclip. This in turn reduces the kinetic energy and velocity of the helicopter when it
impacts.
Modular Design
less costly to repair
Detachable Landing Gear
Rather than having to repair the entire unit you can just simple replace the landing gear and you
are back flying in no time.
Cases
Built with Travel in Mind
 You do not have to pay over size luggage fees.
 you can choose :
 a military grade lockable transport case
 soft case and optional back pack carrying system.

box and is very useful for debugging flight problems.
Low Battery Indicator
Auto-Descent Failsafe
 When the radio link between the helicopter and the hand held controller is lost the
Draganflyer X8 will automatically begin its auto-descent routine.
 The auto descent routine governs how fast the helicopter descends to help minimize
possibilities of damage during an uncontrolled landing.
Maximum Operating Ceiling
A maximum altitude can be set so that the Draganflyer X8 will be restricted from flying above the
preset altitude.
Transmission Frequencies
Data and control signals are broadcast at 2.4GHz and the video signal is transmitted at 5.8GHz.
This prevents interference between the two.
8 Rotor Redundancy
If one of the brushless motors fails, the helicopter will still be able to fly and land safely.
Electronic Flight Stability
11 Advanced Sensors for Flight Control
 Using data from the sensors the Draganflyer X8s onboard software automatically adjusts the
flight controls to ensure the helicopter is flying stable.
 This means that the pilot no longer has to concentrate on keeping the helicopter steady and
instead can just fly it to the desired location.
The SteadyFlight™ system uses data from:
 3 gyros
 3 accelerometers
 3 magnetometers
 1 barometric pressure sensor
 1 GPS receiver

  • 45. Damage Tolerance Tough Carbon Fibre Frame  high quality military grade carbon fibre (most durable)  Carbon fibre is impervious to rust and does not decay Durability & Strength  to stand up to a significant amount of stress during flight (because of using carbon fibre and glass-filled injected nylon plastic)  The frame has been designed to be rigid in order to improve flight response while at the same time able to absorb vibration. Folds on Impact This is made possible by the strong clips that hold the arms in place as they absorb energy when they unclip. This in turn reduces the kinetic energy and velocity of the helicopter when it impacts. Modular Design less costly to repair Detachable Landing Gear Rather than having to repair the entire unit you can just simple replace the landing gear and you are back flying in no time.
  • 46. Cases Built with Travel in Mind  You do not have to pay over size luggage fees.  you can choose :  a military grade lockable transport case  soft case and optional back pack carrying system.
