2. If you own an Xbox 360 then you will already know how good a console it is. Hi-Def graphics, excellent online capabilities and a fantastic range of games across all genres. As good as the console itself is, the hardware has been bugged with numerous problems since launch. The most well known is the ‘Red Ring Of Death’ otherwise known as RROD. This is basically a critical malfunction of the hardware thought to happen due to the chips overheating on the motherboard. If you have any kind of problem with your Xbox 360 read on as help is at hand.
3. The Red Ring Of Death problem was so bad at one point it was estimated that 20% of Xbox 360’s were malfunctioning with this problem. The usual rate of malfunction for any electronic device is usually only between 1% - 5%. Microsoft turned a blind eye to the problem for a long time, however people on the Internet became so vocal of the problems that the company ended up spending $1 billion on extended warranties for those affected. So where does this leave us? If you have an Xbox 360 that is out of warranty you have three options: 1. Buy a new console, 2. Send the console in for repair which could easily cost $100/£80/€70, 3. Mend it yourself.
4. If you ever have problems with your Xbox console or if you have an older model that is more vulnerable to a malfunction (the newer models have cooler chips), then as you go to send it in for repair – don’t! Mend it yourself. By Joe T – Owner of Xbox 360 Repair website http:// www.xboxninja.com
