2. Procedure Steps Using the marshmallows and toothpicks, create a model of a water molecule. Use the diagram given to you for guidance in building your model. Draw a sketch of your model. Be sure to label the hydrogen and oxygen atom on your sketch. Draw and electron-dot diagram of the water molecule so it can help you follow throughout.

3. Question Time What do the marshmallows represent? What do the toothpicks represent? Why are the marshmallows different colors? Compare your model with the picture given. How might your model be improved to more accurately represent a water molecule?

4. Conclusion(answers) The marshmallows represent the hydrogen and oxygen atoms. The toothpick represent the covalent bonding. The marshmallows are different colors because one color marshmallow represents the hydrogen atom and the other colored marshmallow represents the oxygen atom. I believe that my model can be improved by the covalent bonding because mine was made with toothpicks and the actual drawing is mostly out of marshmallows. My model was just a little bit different.
