3. When was it founded? The Franklin Institute was built on February 5, 1824 by Samuel Vaughn Merrick and William H. Keating founded the Franklin institute. The museum began in 1825. It is located now on 222 North 20th Street in Philadelphia, PA. This is not where it was at first.
4. Traveling Exhibits A new exhibit named Mummies of the World is coming to the Franklin Institute on June 18. LeanardoDaVinci’s Workshophas ended on May 22, 2011.
5. Kid Science Kid Science is a permanent exhibit and is a Franklin Institute original. It is located on the first floor and teaches many different things about Kid Science.
6. Changing Earth In the Changing Earth exhibit, we learn that powerful forces shape our air, water and land and will continue to transform our planet. Keep cleaning the Earth so we have a healthy world!
7. The Giant Heart The Giant Heart is an icon in Philadelphia since it’s opening in 1954. The Giant Heart is a 5,000 square feet exhibit. This is exhibit is big enough for many, many people to walk through. WOW! Inside the Giant Heart!!
8. Franklin Airshow This aviation exhibit, The Franklin Airshow, re-opened October 18, 2003. It re-opened after a period of renovation. Franklin Airshow introduces the history, majesty, science, and technology of powered flight.
