Assessment 5 – Portfolio
Assessment Context and Proposed Environment
Units are assessed in the workplace under normal operating conditions or under
conditions that accurately simulate a realistic workplace.
Resources Required
A suitable location with all required materials and equipment should be arranged with the
participant/employer and confirmed prior to assessment.
The participant must have access to all relevant materials, tools and equipment to competently
complete the assessments.
Submission of Evidence
An assessment of competence is dependent on the submission of evidence that
supports underpinning knowledge and ability to perform the tasks relating directly to the
learning outcomes and performance criteria described in the particular study unit. At this
level an assessor will need to collect practical evidence. Evidence can take the
form of written assessments, workplace projects, workplace documentation, workshops,
simulations, role-plays, 3rd party checklists and observation checklists. It is, however, up to the
assessor in conjunction with the participant to select and use the appropriate tools and to
collect sufficient evidence to justify a judgment of competence.
