The homework involves longer term tasks over two weeks to encourage creative thinking. Students will develop skills to work independently in high school. Tasks can be completed on computers and shared online or handed in physically. Homework must be completed on time and may be marked in various ways including by teachers, friends, or in groups. If not completed at home, students must finish it at school. Teachers' email addresses are provided for questions.

1. Spring 1 Homework
Weekend homework will involve longer tasks but will take just under two weeks to complete. The aim of
this homework is to encourage you to think ‘outside the box’ – to develop your ability to think creatively. It
may seem strange to start with, but after a while we think you will enjoy the tasks and that the skills you
develop will help you to work more independently at high school.
If you want to complete your homework on the computer and either:
email it in, create a Prezi, use slide-share to post on the blog then these are strongly encouraged. (Blog

If you do not have a computer, are not able to access the internet, or simply prefer it, then it is acceptable
to bring in handwritten work.
Your homework MUST be completed on time. You will not be told HOW your homework will be marked.
Sometimes the teacher will mark it, sometimes a friend, it could even be marked in a group. If you don’t
complete your homework you will have to do it during your own time whilst at school.

2. This half term our topic is World War Two. To support our learning in school we
would like you to research how Adolf Hitler came into power as first the leader of
the Nazi Party and later the leader of Germany.
You can present your research in any chosen form. Some ideas are:
•Power Point
•Prezi
•A model
•Poster
•Report
•Story
•Newspaper Report
•Diary entries etc.
You must include dates, important people, key events and possible links to the
First World War.

3. Propaganda posters were used to for a range of
purposes, such as recruiting people for the army,
creating fear and making people believe they were
winning the war.
Your task is to find examples of different propaganda
posters and to create your own.
It should:
•Have a catchy slogan
•Bright colours
•Be persuasive
•Give a clear message
As well as your finished poster we will be expecting to
see the examples, or copies of the posters you have
found. Also, choose one to annotate (label) with why
you think it is effective.

4. Half term homework
For your final piece of homework that includes half term, we would
like to find out how World War Two effected the local community
of Chorlton, or Manchester.
You will need to gather information from a range of sources. For
example, the local library, central library, the internet, interviews
with family members etc.
Using the research you have found, you need to create an
information booklet, which includes:
