2. Brother Knights.
I begin this column hoping everyone had a Happy,
Blessed Thanksgiving. Our first activity of the month
was the Parish Family Festival. The weather had a
small impact especially Friday night we were forced to
shut down an hour early. The booth revenue was down
a little but not significant, I believe this was influenced
by the weather and the economy. Thanks to all, the
booth was fully manned during all the time the festival
was opened.
It seems my recent communications started with an
apology, I am proud to say an apology is not necessary
this time. You should be proud of the effort that was
provided in support of the St. Vincent de Paul Society
Thanksgiving Turkey Project. It began Saturday in
support of the meal assembly project.
This effort consisted of assembling 300 boxes of nonperishable side dishes in preparation of the distribution
of the boxes Sunday and Monday. This consisted of
Green Beans, Corn, Gravy, Packaged Mash Potatoes,
Cake Mix and Icing. This was a project we performed
along with the Jr. High Students at St. Bonaventure

3. School. We assembled the boxes and the student
formed an assembly line to fill the boxes. The entire
effort was completed before the Knights were schedule
to begin, however a number of Knights brought their
student and provided the assistance in the box
assembly.
Sunday, we distributed 180 boxes between 2:00 and
4:00PM this included matching an appropriately sized
turkey based on family size. We assembled the box
and Turkey and delivered the box into the client’s
car. Monday between 6:00 and 8:00pm we delivered
another 120 boxes.
I believe all who participated found the effort rewarding
and enjoyable. I know the St. Vincent de Paul Society
were very appreciative. These are the things that will
help improve our image within the parish and the
community.
Our next effort is the building and Dedication of the
Nativity Scene at the Town of Davie City Hall on
December 8, the feast of the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate
Conception. This is an appropriate date since the Virgin
Mary is the Patron of the United States. I would like as
many Knights and their families to attend. All Color

4. many Knights and their families to attend. All Color
Guard members are requested to wear full Regalia and
4th degree Knight are requested to dress out. We will
be inviting all parishioners to participate.
Other dates to remember are December 15 our next
breakfast and Jan. 17, 2014 our next Domino Night at
Elio Garcia’s home. The price will remain the same,
$20.00 per person, includes, Roasted Pork, Beans and
Rice. Plantains, Flan, 1st drink and a cigar. There will
be a period of introduction to game, practice session for
us Gringos and a tournament. We would like to actively
persue presales for the tickets so we can plan and
budget for this activity. A cash bar and Cigar bar after
the first.
All who attended our previous nights had an excellent
time. All men are invited, Knights & Non-Knight,
Catholics & Non-Catholics, parishioners & NonParishioners. Invite your Family and Friends they are
guaranteed a good time.
Watch for the announcement of the St. Vincent de Paul
Christmas project. We will be duplicating the
Thanksgiving effort plus distributing toys for the clients
children.

My Brother Knights,
The Advent Season has begun. It is the
beginning of the liturgical year. We renew
our commitment to proclaim the Good News
of our salvation in Jesus Christ which began
with the Annunciation to Mary that she was
to become the mother of the Son of God,
Jesus Christ. Her son was born at
Bethlehem nine months later and we
celebrate it on Christmas Day. Our Holy
Father, Pope Francis, published the
Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium,
The Joy of the Gospel, on Christ the King

Sunday, the last Sunday of the Year of Faith
which began on October 11, 2012. The Joy
of the Gospel is available on the internet.
Type in Vatican.VA and hit the the word
English. It is only 217 pages. I just finished it
yesterday and it is the most profound and
timely document I have read on our
responsibility to be evangelists to our world.
My brother Knights, reading the apostolic
exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium, would be an
outstanding preparation this Advent for our
celebration of Christmas, the Good News of
our salvation in Jesus Christ. If we do it, we
will be ready to sing with the angels on
Christmas Day, "Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace to those on whom his
favor rests."
Gratefully,
Fr. Frank

insurers in North America. AM Best has rated
the Knights of Columbus “A++, Superior” for
38 consecutive years. This shows our track
record for excellence and security.
I would suggest that a principal reason that
we were able to achieve those accolades is
because we remain steadfastly committed to
the vision of Father Michael J. McGivney by
providing life insurance by brother Knights for
brother Knights.
That commitment is an essential core value
of the Knights of Columbus, and our core
values permeate all levels of our
organization. These principles for marketing
are summed up by our Golden Rule: “In all
my professional relationships, I pledge myself
to the following rule of conduct: I shall, in light
of all conditions surrounding those I serve,
render that service which, under the same
