represents a typical teenage guy. He’s not a goth, nerd or vs. the World”. Cera plays Scott, a typical
particularly sporty, just your average kind of guy. If he had any guy who plays in a band with his friends
important defining features, then these could become too much of from high school. Then he meets a girl he
a focus point in the film, rather than the real narrative. You can tell likes, but discovers to win her heart, he

abnormal; not posh, foreign, uneducated – just average. ties in with our thriller plot and something
extraordinary happening to an ordinary
guy. Like Dan he dresses fairly plainly and
acts similarly; in a film, the lead guy has to
take challenges head-on- if they didn’t then
there wouldn’t be much of a movie.
This photo is of 18year old potential
Olympic cyclist, Lewis Balyckyi, who died
tragically in a car accident last week. Like
Dan, a very typical guy except for his
obvious passion for cycling. I think if our
main character had an obvious hobby that
was very irrelevant to our film, it would
have got in the way of the narrative and
distracted audiences from the main plot.
He could in fact have a hobby, but it
probably wouldn’t make any sort of
appearance in the film, as it would not tie
in, or have any relevance to the narrative.
The obvious thing that these guys have in
common, is a problem or something they
have to overcome, which is very difficult. I
think this gives them all a certain sense of
vulnerability, which could make them
appealing to audiences.
