Rain. Dirt. Seeds. Birthing.
1. Rain. Dirt. Seeds. Birthing 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time By. Fr. Joseph Jablonski, MSC The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart USA Province 305 S. Lake Street, PO Box 270 Aurora, IL 60507 (630) 892-2371 info@misacor-usa.org
2. Today’s readings seem to be pretty obvious especially since Jesus himself explains the parable.
3. So then, do we just sit back and think about how plants grow? I don’t think so.
4. If anything, today’s readings are trying to get us out of our heads in order to do something real in our lives.
5. If I just do an analysis of what kind of soil I am and then move on with some good intentions, probably nothing will change in my life.
6. Although we all agree that rain and snow are good for the ground,
11. Dirt by its nature is messy, not bad, just like our lives.
12. Working to clear out impurities and weeds and give nutrients and air to dirt make it good soil.
13. Words like: uprooting, sifting, moving around & displacing sound good for soil but again, discomforting if applied to our lives.
14. Seeds have to be buried in the dark of the soil and give-up everything to become one with it in order to sprout new life.
15. Entering into the darkness of our lives and quietly waiting there to be one with God who turns darkness into light and death into life is very discomforting and scary.
20. We are called to be more than a potted plant in a secure environment.
21. We are called to grow in the wilds of life but deeply rooted in God.
