1. I then went onto researching about the history of magazines and in
particular the company ‘IPC media’ this gave ideas why magazines
became invented and target audiences, also how the have developed
into different varieties and wider target ages throughout of the years.
Next from process of elimination of the from analysing magazines, I
chose ‘Vibe’ and ‘Billboard’ as the magazines I was going to relate my
final magazine to as this covers the same genre and content that I
studied in task 6, it also has similar age ranges. I researched their official
website for the kind of music news the magazines may contain.

2. I then studied the genre of my magazine which will be Hip‐Hop/R&B,
looking at its background, how it originated, how it has developed from
back when it started to present day and the imagery involved which all
relates to my target audience.
I also then looked at the publishers of vibe, ‘Miller Publishing’ who
bought vibe in 1996 and also ‘Bauer Media’ this showed me the number
of magazines that this company produces although this is an American
company I considered this appropriate to base my magazine with them
too.

3. Next I had to go out and collect my research for my magazine, collecting
information about likes and dislikes for the magazine to give me an
image of how my magazine is going to be produced from the target
audience.

Later on I produced the results of my gatherings in a bar chart on
Microsoft Excel.
From this information I then looked at my stereotypical audience side
for my genre, looking at images, there dress sense, likes, dislikes and
appearance etc. , looking how artists from the genre have an influence
of the appearance and clothes on the listeners.

5. Recently I have completed my formal proposal including how I would
like my magazine to appear to my target audience; the features &
content, however I will need to go into more detail, in addition to this I
have drawn up my drafts of the front cover, contents and double page
spread to which I have briefly annotated also to get my final piece
STARTED!
