6. value The use of light and dark, shade and highlight, in an artwork. Value is directly related to contrast. Value is the darkness and lightness of an object depending on how the light is shown.
7. form Form may be created by the forming of two or more shapes or as three-dimensional shape (cube, pyramid, sphere, etc). May be enhanced by tone, texture and colour. Considered three-dimensional showing height, width and depth. Examples of these are sculpture, theatre play, figurines.
8. texture The feeling or visual effect created by repetition and variation of form, colors, value, or patterns of line. There are two types of texture: Optical (visual) texture, and texture which can be physically (tactile).
9. space The area provided for a particular purpose Space includes the background, foreground and middle ground. Refers to the distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece. There are two types of space: Positive The shape representing the subject matter. Negative The space around and between the subject matter.
