-International Standard for Archival Description (General) -Encoded Archival Description 1.0 -ISAD (G) revised -EAD 2002 -eliminated some unnecessary layers of encoding, -brought EAD up to compliance with ISAD (G)’s second edition -EAD 2002 schema – Replicated the existing tag set in W3C and Relax NG schema languages. -Enforced proper use of ISO country codes, date normalization patterns. -Introduced namespaces to EAD in a limited way -Namespace for EAD and xlink
-International Standard for Archival Authority Records (Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families) -Encoded Archival Context (Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families) -Who submitted comments on the draft CPF schema? -International Standard for Describing Functions -EAC-Functions -International Standard for Describing Institutions with Archival Holdings EAC-IAH [Mention EAG]

Current state of affairs: EAD widespread and successful. It has proven that there is a need for archival data transmission standards and inspired work on related standards such as EAC-CPF. EAD is extremely flexible, and can accommodate a broad range of descriptive practices and traditions.
EAD’s flexibility - it’s initial selling point - has ultimately gotten us stuck. [discussion of difficulty to implement in CMS context] It also shows its age - doesn’t play well with others. Bit of a loner. Goals for a revison: -Simplify -Play nicely with others What are some likely changes?
