2. Yin Fong Seafood
Relocation
First thing first!
Yin Fong Seafood relocated in
another township in Yangon 1 month
before I went to work at the
restaurant. Yet our frequent guests,
mostly Chinese and Myanmar
businessmen, had not been well-
informed of the relocation and we
received several enquiries asking for
our new address every day at the
time. To resolve this problem, I first
contact Google My Business via e-
mail to request an update of our
location on Google Maps.
Second, I designed a location map
and uploaded it to Imgur so that we
could send it via text message to
whoever asking for our address. In
doing so, the time spent on the
phone with guests, who sometimes
got nowhere near the restaurant due
to poor communication with our
counter receptionists, had been
much reduced.
Third, I made an advertisement on
Universal Press to both address the
relocation and introduce our new
restaurant.

4. Restaurant Brochure Given the spacious new restaurant
that can accommodate up to 500
guests, it is ideal for groups of
tourists, staff party, birthday party,
wedding banquets, to have meals
at Yin Fong Seafood. I proposed to
the owner to create a restaurant
brochure for travel agencies, airline
offices, and public/private
companies to attract these target
customers.

6. Yin Fong Buffet Available starting from July 2015, Yin
Fong Buffet was aimed to fill up the
daytime hours when there wasn’t as
many guests as nighttime hours.
Being popular among walk-in guests,
this new offering opened up a whole
new territory of business
opportunities that we started to
receive enquires of both outdoor and
in-house buffet catering.
Since its debut, I had run a series of
marketing campaigns in various
forms including “All You Can Eat,”
“Buffet Voucher Sale,” “Buffet
Coupon Giveaway,” etc.

14. Chinese New Year Set Menu For the first time ever at the
restaurant, as I proposed to the
managing director, we introduced
Chinese New Year dinner set, which
was specifically targeted at Chinese
Myanmar and Taiwanese
businessmen, with some dishes that
had never been served before.

16. New Product Development—
FMCG
Myanmar has become a more
and more exciting place from a
business perspective as people
foresee economic reform after
National League for Democracy
(NLD) winning the general
elections in late 2015.
After Chinese New Year, we
started to develop more FMCG in
addition to our popular soy food
products (soft/dried tofu, soy
milk, and tofu skin). The new
products were selected from the
restaurant’s popular dishes and
others that we introduced during
Chinese New Year: Pork/Chicken
Dumplings, Sichuan Smoked
Salted Duck/Pork.

17. Menu Redesign That the restaurant had different
menu in different languages had
always bothered me, as for other
waiters/waitresses, whenever I
took orders from customers. I,
therefore, proposed a redesign of
the menu that is multilingual.
