2. I researched various music magazine front covers, contents
pages and double page spreads to come up with my complete
music magazine. I also looked out for the key areas that made
the magazines appealing to their audiences, like the symbolic
code, written and technical aspects.
3. TITLE
I developed the title of my magazine as I was first called ‘R & Electro’.
After some research I saw that the titles of most music magazines are
simple however engaging. I gained feedback from a range of people so
I concluded it with a survey. My end product was ‘Rectro’, a simple title
that hints the genre of my magazine.
I saw that in some of the magazine titles like ‘vibe’ the title was partially covered by the
model. This illustrates the success of the magazine as the distributors know that their
audience will recognize the magazine. I done the same thing to promote my magazine,
this gave my magazine a level of importance, however I I didn’t cover it too much as my
magazine isn't yet successful.
4. CHALLENGES
My music magazine challenges the stereotypes of how women reveal
their skin in order to look ‘sexy’.
It is trying to portray that in order to target the male audience of the
younger generation you have to expose your skin however I targeted a
male audience without doing that.
My model was mostly covered up and the results of the survey I
conducted revealed that I was successful as the majority rated my
magazine front cover 9-10 out of 10, furthermore 90% of the males
between the age of 16-22 said they would buy it.
6. CONTENTS
My aim for the content heading
was a big, bold and electrified
heading and I think I achieved
that. I looked at a range of
headings and I analyzed which
ones were the most appealing
and why. I also had a range of
content samples and I asked a
few individuals and my
classmates which looked
best, and most suitable for my
genre.
