7 Useful Tools to
 Help Organize
   Your Move
Anyone that has gone through a move knows that
it can be both exciting and stressful at the same
time. It's a time for new beginnings and new
adventures, but the process itself can leave you
pulling your hair out if it doesn't go smoothly.

Proper organization is one of the most important
factors, because if you aren't organized during
every aspect of a move you're going to have
problems. Here are 7 useful tools that will help
keep your move organized and your sanity intact.
1. Notebook
A simple notebook is one of the most useful things
you can have for any move. With it, you can keep
track of every task you have to perform and when
it needs to be done. You can essentially chart out
the entire move, so it's right there in front of you the
whole time.

Using a notebook helps you to empty out your
mind onto the pages, so you don't have to try and
keep all of the information in there for when you
need it. These days, a digital notebook of some
sort works just as well.
2. Moving Boxes

It seems like a given to say that you need moving
boxes in order to move, but your choice of boxes
can certainly make a difference. You don't have
to rush out and buy the most expensive moving
boxes you can find, but it is wise to use strong
boxes that are suited to the items you are moving.
2. Moving Boxes

Some companies sell moving boxes that are
shaped like specific items to help with safe delivery
and organization at the new residence. At the
very least, use boxes that are strong enough to
handle whatever you put inside.
3. Packing Tape

Being productive and moving boxes smoothly from
one house to the next will help with the
organization of moving day immensely. And as
trivial as it may seem, good packing tape with a
dispenser will help make that happen.

Sealing the boxes completely with quality tape
means that they will stay closed during the move,
regardless of any rough treatment they may
endure. Strapping tape for the bottoms of heavier
boxes may also be a wise choice to help keep all
the contents inside.
4. Labels
For pure organization, nothing beats labels.
Labeling each box on the top and two sides with
the contents, or at least which room it goes to will
eliminate any confusion and keep the line moving.

You can simply write on the boxes or use actual
labels, as long as they are easy to read and they
won't come off during the move.
5. Document Holder
In any move, there are a lot of important
documents to get from Point A to Point B. Things
like passports, birth certificates, marriage license,
tax records and insurance papers can get lost
pretty easily if you are organized.

The key is to keep them all together in one spot
and a secure document holder like a zip-up fabric
envelope or a briefcase will usually do the trick.
Whatever you use, just be sure you can close it
securely so nothing can fall out.
6. Storage Unit
It's not uncommon to have extras left over after a
move that don't have a spot in the new place, or
to have to wait for a time between leaving one
place and moving into another. For either of these
situations, a storage unit is a great solution.

Storage units give you that extra space to leave
moving boxes or furniture or anything else you
can't bring, but aren't ready to part with. And if
you have to wait to move in, a storage unit makes
a great temporary home for your things.
7. The Telephone

The telephone is another one of those no-brainers
that has to be mentioned when discussing
organization and moving. The phone is used to
arrange the movers, work out estimates, cancel
utilities, arrange for storage, change your address
and many other crucial tasks.

Keep in mind that starting the planning and
arrangements as early as possible will always give
you the best chance for a smooth and organized
move.
