4. HOUSE STYLE
I chose Bernard MT Condensed as the font for my
masthead. I chose red, white, and black as the colors because
they are the most desired colors for readers. My magazine is
balanced and symmetric.
5. COVER
Masthead
The masthead is
white to be
consistent with the
color scheme. I used
different sized fonts
for the capital letters
to make my own
twist on the font
Main Coverline
This coverline is a
different color than the
others because it shows
what the main article is
in the magazine, as well
as helps attract readers
that are interested in
this.
Coverline
I chose to place this
coverline on the right side
for design purposes as
well as the fact that I had
no room on the other side
of the cover. It is white to
match the other
coverlines.
Coverlines
These coverlines draw in
the readers by offering
relateable topics. I chose
white as the color to match
with the color scheme.
Skyline
This skyline offers the
reader a glimpse of some
bonus articles included in
the article
6. TOC
Page number
I had to choose an
odd number for the
right side of my TOC
so I chose 5. I
wanted the TOC to
be early in the
magazine, but not
too early.
Masthead
I chose to keep the masthead all red because I was unable to
figure out how to create a similar design in InDesign. Although,
the color still looks great and matches the color scheme well
Dateline
I chose to place the
dateline on this side
of the TOC because
it balanced well with
the volume and
issue number. I
chose April because
it was the upcoming
month at the time
7. TWO PAGE SPREAD
Pull Quote
The pull quote I
chose leads
readers into the
story, but doesn’t
reveal too much
Kicker
The kicker
effectively
describes what
this article is
about.
Byline
This is my name. I used
a font that matched my
style.
Headline
The headline is a
different font than
any other used.
Despite that
change, I stuck to
my style and
used black as the
color
Body copy
I chose this wording as
the body copy because
it will make readers
want to continue
reading. I also gave it a
different font.
Image caption
This provides a brief insight on the picture.

with my house style.

WITH AUDIENCES AND HOW WOULD IT BE
DISTRIBUTED AS A REAL MEDIA TEXT?

12. HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT ENGAGE
WITH AUDIENCES AND HOW WOULD IT BE
DISTRIBUTED AS A REAL MEDIA TEXT?
DISTRIBUTION
Time Inc is my publishing company
The publisher should want to add my magazine because I will
offer exceptional stories as well as provide an organized and
appealing layout. The magazine will specifically be about sports
cars, and higher end cars. In some cases, it may consist of
average cars, but never low end automobiles.
What makes your magazine, different and stand-out. Why does the
market need your magazine. The market needs my magazine
because I will offer exceptional stories as well as provide an
organized and appealing layout. The magazine will specifically be
about sports cars, and higher end cars. In some cases, it may
consist of average cars, but never low end automobiles.
Monthly magazines generally work 3 months in advance so I need
to plan ahead when producing a magazine for print.
13. HOW DID YOUR PRODUCTION SKILLS
DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT?
My production skills developed throughout this project. I was
able to utilize all the elements of Photoshop to create a realistic
cover.
A key moment to my magazine was coming up with the name
“SuperCharged” as my title. I feel that it made the image of the
brand more masculine and shaped how I designed the cover
and TOC.
14. HOW DID YOUR PRODUCTION
SKILLS DEVELOP THROUGHOUT
THIS PROJECT?
At the beginning of the year, I had some experience with Photoshop,
but none with InDesign. I was very comfortable using Photoshop to
create my covers and such, but when it came to InDesign I was
hesitant.
My skills developed by using new fonts and unfamiliar ways that
make the font appear different than before. This made my coverlines
in my final draft appear different than the rough drafts.
15. HOW DID YOU INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGIES –
SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND ONLINE – IN THIS
PROJECT?
I used Photoshop and InDesign in this project. I used them to
create my Cover, TOC, and Two-Page Spread.
I used a Dell Desktop Computer
I used the text box tool, free transform tool, and the shape tool
most often in Photoshop
In InDesign I used the text box and shape tool most often
For my blog, I used edublogs.edu and for embedding my
PowerPoint I used Slide Share
