3. Fuselage
• Main Structural part of an aircraft.
• Includes:
passenger cabin or cockpit.
• All other parts of aircraft are attached to fuselage.
• Carry the maximum load of an aircraft.
•. Position on Aircraft:
front and middle portion of Aircraft.
4. Cockpit
•It is generally a part of fuselage.
•It contain:
Seats for flight crew, flying controls
Instrument panel, avionics control
• Position of Cockpit on aircraft:
Front Area of an Aircraft
5. Wings
• Wings are airfoils shape structure that are attached to the both side of fuselage
and generate required lift to fly an aircraft.
• Wing Component:
1. Spar
2. Ribs
3. Stringers
4. Outer Skin
7. Control Surfaces
•These are the component used to increase and decrease lift of an aircraft.
•Primary and Secondary Control Surfaces:
Name Function Location
Aileron Control rolling moment Trailing edge of wings
Elevator Control pitching moment Trailing edge of hori. Stab.
Rudder Control yawing moment Trailing edge of ver. Stab.
Flaps To increase lift Trailing edge of wing
Spoilers To decrease lift Upper edge of wing
Slats To increase lift and camber Leading edge of wing
Slots lower stall speed Leading edge of wing
Trim tabs Reduce force to move
primary control surfaces

control surfaces
8. Power Plant
•These are the external power source to generate thrust to fly.
•Includes:
Engine(piston, jet engine), propeller
•Jet Engine Component:
Ducted Fan, Compressor, combustion chamber, turbine, nozzle
•Position on Aircraft:
mounted below the wings(2,3,4….. Engine a/c)
attached to the lower area of fuselage ( 1, 3, 5….engine a/c)
9. Empennage
• Tail section of Aircraft.
• It consist:
1. Type 1- tail section, vertical and horizontal stabilizer, rudder and elevator.
2. Type 2- tail section, one piece horizontal stabilizer, rudder
such design is called as stabilator.
• Position on aircraft:
Tail section of aircraft after the passenger cabin.
10. Landing Gears
• Principle support of aircraft when parked, taxing, taking off or landing.
• It support the static load of aircraft on ground.
• Consist:
3 wheels (fixed or retractable)
• Types:
Conventional landing gear
tricycle landing gear
