• God knew that children would ask
questions.
– It’s a good way of learning!
• He prepares us to be prepared to answer.

Your Children Ask You…
• Why do you go to worship services?
John 4:23-24; Psalm 122:1; 1 Timothy 3:15
– To honor God. 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 12:28
– To encourage others. 1 Corinthians 14:26
– To grow in one’s personal faith. Acts 2:42
– Be careful not to show complaints, burdens, etc.
and taint their vision of God’s people.

Your Children Ask You…
• Why is “Church of Christ” on the building?
– Jesus built His church. Mt. 16:18; Acts 2:47
– “church of Christ” is its scriptural name.
Romans 16:16; we belong to Christ Acts 20:28
• The word “church” means, “the called out ones”.
– The building is just where the church meets.
Examples… Acts 2:46; 1 Corinthians 11:18, 20
• Not a denominational name or affiliation.
• It is a place where spiritual work is done.

• Why do we have bible classes and
worship services? 2 Timothy 2:2
– We grow in faith by hearing/learning God’s
word. John 6:44-45; Romans 10:17
– Bible classes are a teaching arrangement
used to help us grow.
2 Peter 3:18; Acts 19:9-10
– Worship assemblies provide the time to do
some other things that the Lord wants us to
do together. Hebrews 10:24-25

• Why do we offer prayers?
– God commands it. 1 Thes. 5:17-18
– It follows the example of early Christians.
Acts 2:42
– Because God hears and answers His
people’s prayers. 1 John 5:14-15
– We need the peace and help that we can
receive by prayer. Phil. 4:6-7

• What is the point of singing spiritual
songs?
– To praise God. Hebrews 13:15; James 5:13
– To teach and admonish each other.
Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19
• It’s a way to let Christ’s word to dwell in us richly.

• What is the Lord’s Supper about?
– It is a sharing with Christ by partaking
emblems of His body and blood.

– It is remembering what Christ has done for us
and a proclaiming of his future return.

– It’s an expression of our unity in Christ.
1 Cor. 10:17; 11:17-22

• Why do you give money every week?
– Because a need and command for this exists.
1 Cor. 16:1-2
– Because it is more blessed to give than to
receive. Acts 20:35
– Because it is an expression of our good heart
but we also look forward to God’s future
blessings. 2 Cor. 9:6-8

• Why do we have gospel preaching at
every worship service?
– Because of the gospel’s source.

– Because of the gospel’s power! Rom. 1:16
– Because of the gospel’s relevance in our lives!

• What is the gospel invitation?
– It is your opportunity to be saved.
Acts 2:36-37; 2 Cor. 5:15
– It’s God’s call to you to be saved.
Acts 2:37-39; Mt. 11:28
– It is the only way out of your sin.
Jn. 14:6; 2 Cor. 6:2

12. Conclusion:
• Adults: May we renew our efforts to
always teach our children the way of God!

• Children: You can see the value and
spiritual safety of accepting God’s answers
to every question of life. Matthew 6:33

• We know that children will ask all kinds of
questions. Let us prepare to answer them
especially in the realm of God’s truth.
• God wants us to use this opportunity to
teach the children of Him. Deut. 6:20, 6-7

• About the church of Christ?

– Why are we different than other churches?

– Does it matter which church you are a

– Why are we so small? 1 Cor. 1:26-29
– Why don’t we use instrumental music?
Col. 3:16-17; 1 Cor. 4:6
– Why don’t we have women preachers?

• About dating and marriage?
• What is wrong with living with someone
before marriage?
– It is fornication. 1 Corinthians 7:2; Heb. 13:4
– Marriage is ordained by God. Genesis 2:22,24;
Matthew 19:4-6
• Why can’t I divorce and remarry for any
cause? Matthew 19:3-9; Romans 7:2-3
– Because doing so would make you an adulterer.

• About dancing and drinking?
• Why don’t we dance?
– It generates lustful thoughts and lewd conduct.
1 Peter 4:3; Galatians 5:19 “unbridled lust”
– It does not promote holiness. 1 Thes. 4:1-8
• Why don’t we drink alcohol?
– God prohibits it in all forms and degrees.
1 Peter 4:3
– It is foolish and harmful. Prov. 20:1; 23:29-35
– It provides a worldly example. 1 Thes. 5:21-22

• How should we treat others?
• What’s wrong with treating others the way
same way they treat me?
– We should always treat others as we want to be
treated. Mt. 7:12
– We should be like Jesus and not revile in return.

• Why do you discipline (spank) me?
– Because I love you. Prov. 13:24; 3:12
– To correct you and help you learn best.
Prov. 19:18; 22:15

• About sin and salvation?
– Why do the people we love sin?
1 Cor. 10:12-13
– Why doesn’t everyone obey the gospel?
Mt. 7:21; 2 Cor. 4:3-4
– What must I do to be saved? Rom. 1:16; 10:17;
Acts 2:38; Rom. 10:10; Acts 22:16; Rev.2:10
– What must I do as a Christian to be forgiven of
my sins? Acts 8:22-24; 1 Jn. 1:9

20. Conclusion:
• Our children will ask many questions
about God, Christ, the church, the Bible
and so many other important related
things.
• Let us learn how to answer them and what
answers will give them the most strength
to secure them and the next generations
of those who will have their faith in Christ
for salvation!
