August 26th
1865 - Civil War ends with Naval strength over 58,500 men and 600 ships.
August 27th
1945 - Pacific Fleet ships enter Sagami Bay, near Tokyo, Japan.
August 28th
1992 - Navy and Marine forces begin providing disaster relief after Typhoon Omar hit Guam.
August 29th
1862 - Union gunboat Pittsburgh support Army troops in landing at Eunice, Arkansas.
August 30th
1929 - Near New London, CT, 26 officers and men test Momsen lung to exit submerged USS S-4.

The Career Navigator C-Way reenlistment skill sets for August have been released, the document lists the
ratings that are open balanced and competitive. Below is an explanation of the categories.
- Open Reenlistment – Undermanned skills. If eligible and command approved, auto-confirmed, can
reenlist immediately
- Balanced Reenlistment – Fully manned. If eligible and command approved, process based on year group
(YG) manning. Undermanned/manned YG (most Sailors): auto-confirmed, reenlist immediately.
Overmanned YG: Must apply
- Competitive Reenlistment – Over manned or special requirements (Nuclear). If eligible and command
approved, must apply

C-WAY REENLISTMENT SKILLSETS RELEASED
A detailing countdown reference guide is available for your Sailors; the guide lists what Sailors should be
doing and expecting as they begin to enter the orders window. A step by step timeline from 18 months out
from their PRD all the way until their PRD is outlined in the guide. Please share this with your Sailors to help
them understand the detailing process and what they need to do to get the orders they want. The guide can
