L'ORENGA is an herb that grows wild in warm, mountainous forests. It blooms from May until October with small pink or purplish-white flowers. The leaves are small and oval with a slightly toothed edge. The erect stem is hairy and very fragrant. Oregano is used to flavor salads, meats, pasta, and pizza. In early summer, the tender shoots and leaves are picked and dried in the shade. Oregano has many medicinal uses for digestion and inflammation. It is also used in perfumes, cosmetics, olive oil, and vinegar to impart its fragrance.
