The Construction Specification Institute Northern Illinois Chapter event attracted more than 20 people for dinner and discussion in Glen Ellyn,
Illinois on March 20, 2014.
Maldonado is a BIM specialist who helps firms to transition to BIM. She emphasized the need for commitment from the highest levels of a
company and ongoing training in order to successfully gain the benefits of the improved processes available with proven, advanced technology.
Bordenaro pointed to current efforts of the U.S. government to use web-based information sharing processes to improve specification at
military hospitals. His introductory presentation is available at this link.
Meyer, an architect with building experience, manages Building Information Models for the Aspen Group, a design/build company. His familiarity
the topic provided productivity insights, such as the ability for two people using BIM at his company being able to do the work of four people –
although the two people have to put in more than 40 hours a week.
Audience members noted the importance of using collaborative agreements with BIM business processes and the growing use of BIM.
