Maurice was born in Venray, The Netherlands, 1964. He graduated in 1987 from the Intermediate Professional Education for Advertising. Here after he continued his studies from 1987 to 1992 at the Fontys University of Professional Education in Eindhoven and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Communications. His main subjects were Communication, Marketing, Business Management, Economics, Psychology, Consumer Behaviour and Sociology. Soon after finalising his studies in 1992 he established the first South African Netherlands Chamber of Commerce, based in The Hague.
