One Drive is ‘free online storage that comes with your Microsoft account. It’s
like an extra hard drive that’s available from any of the
devices you use’
From this point onwards all of your written AS/A2 Film
and Media Studies coursework projects will be stored,
edited and submitted ONLINE
Your feedback will also be given ONLINE
This guide will show you how to access your ONEDRIVE account. It will also
show you how to use the system and access your work online
ACCESSING ONEDRIVE
Each student has access to 15GB ONEDRIVE online storage space through their
college email account
To access your account, simply log in to your college email at the followingaddress:
https://mail.sssfc.ac.uk
Once the website loads enter your college email credentials (login details) and click
‘Sign in’

You will then be directed to your SSC email account
Once you have logged in you can access your ONEDRIVE account (anda host of
other online services) by clickingon the ‘grid’ icon in the top left corner of your
page.
A drop down menu will now appear that contains several ‘apps’. Clickon the
‘ONEDRIVE’ icon to access your account
You will now be directed to the ‘DOCUMENTS’ page. This is the area that all of your
work will be stored online.
You are able to create NEW FOLDERS by clickingon the icon

To uploadyour documents to your online storage space click the
icon
To UPLOAD your own files you can either follow the instructions given after your
click the ‘UPLOAD’ button, or you can simply DRAG & DROP files in to the desired
folder
UPLOADING DOCUMENTS
Option 1 – Follow on-screen instructions
1. Click on the ‘upload’ button
2. Find the folder and/or the file you wish to upload to your One drive account

3. Once your file/folder is selected click ‘OPEN’
Your file will then be uploadedto your One Drive accountand accessible from any
computer using your college email account.

To ‘drag and drop’ your files/folder in to your One Drive accountyou simply identify
the file/folder and ‘drag’ it in to the area of the window where your documents are
displayed

USING ONEDRIVE FOR FILM AND MEDIA COURSEWORK
Before your begin your coursework, you must create a ‘Coursework’ folder in
your email account. To do this, follow the instructions below:
Click on the ‘GRID’ icon
and return to the ‘MAIL’
screen.
When your email accountopens follow these instructions:
1. Click on the ‘+’ icon to create a New Folder
2. Label the Folder ‘ Coursework’ andhit ENTER
This new courseworkfolder will be the place where all of
your courseworkdocuments and the web links to your
Courseworkdocuments will be stored.
If you want to copy emails / links in to the Coursework
folder you can simply Drag & Drop the emails in to the
folder.
ACCESSING FILM AND MEDIA COURSEWORK DOCUMENTS
Your teacher will create a series of blank documents specific to your coursework
projects needs. These blank documents will be the MicrosoftWord/PowerPointetc
files that you will use to write and submit your courseworkprojects.

Your teacher will send you an email containinga link to an online document. (see
next page)
YOU MUST MOVE THIS EMAIL IN TO
YOUR ‘COURSEWORK’ FOLDER FOR
SAFE KEEPING AND EASY ACCESS
The link containedwithin your email(s) is the only way you can access your
courseworkdocuments.
Click on the link and you will be re-directedto an online Word/PowerPoint
document. The initial document(s) will be blank and can be edited by both your
AND your teacher.
Once the document loads you will be presentedwith a series of options.

FEEDBACK AND ‘COMMENTS’

‘COMMENTS’ will be the main source of feedback provided by your teacher.
After a complete draft is finishedyour teacher will review your work and use
‘COMMENTS’ to highlightareas of concern, provide feedback and support you in
your research/courseworkproject.
‘COMMENTS’ allow your teacher to highlightspecific areas of your courseworkand
leave notes.
To access the comments left by your teacher click on the ‘COMMENTS’ button
When you click ‘COMMENTS’ a small box will open up on the right side of your
page.
You can scroll down and read the comments left by your teacher. The comments will
include specific support and guidance that you should use to improve your work.
Once you have read the comments you can begin editing your work usingMicrosoft
Word online.

EDITING YOUR WORK
To begin writingyour courseworkprojects and editingyour document click‘EDIT
DOCUMENT’
And select ‘Edit
in Word Online’
Your document will now load in Microsoft Word
Online.
WORD ONLINE offers all of the same functions and facilities of Microsoft Word. This
will be where and how you write, update and store your courseworkprojects.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO SAVE YOUR WORK.

OFFICE ONLINE SAVES AUTOMATICALLY EVERY TIME YOU PRESS A KEY ON
THE KEYBOARD
Once you have written a draft of your courseworkyour teacher will be able to access
the document and provide feedback.
DO NOT DELETE ANY COMMENTS
After reviewingyour comments you MUST TIC
THE BOX at the bottom of each comment to informyour teacher that the comment
has been addressed.

Microsoft’s One Drive accountis an online storage space that allows you to access
your work anywhere.
Your work is safe online, however IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT ALL ICT
SYSTEMS ARE OPEN TO POTENTIAL FAILURES.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BACK UP YOUR WORK AND DOWNLOAD
COPIES TO YOUR MAC / PC HARDDRIVE.
IF YOU DO NOT BACK UP YOUR WORK AND THE ONE DRIVE SYSTEM FAILS
YOUR WILL MAY BE LOST.

YOUR TEACHERS WILL NOT BACK UP INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS
BACKING UP PROJECTS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT
BACKING UP YOUR WORK
Once a new draft has been written it is advised that you BACK UP your work and
save a digital copy of your work to the MAC/PC you are using.
To do this, open your document:

When your document opens, click on the ‘…’ icon and select ‘Download’
Your work will downloadautomaticallyto your ‘DOCUMENTS’ folder and be
accessible off-line.
You must save this document
and name it, includingthe
DRAFT NUMBER (presentation
script draft 3) so you do not lose
track of the document you shouldbe editing.
