1. Cy Falls nabs state 7-on-7 football berth
Cy Falls and Terry football grabbed 7-on-7 state berths last week as the top finishers at the Cy Falls
Eagles State Qualifying Tournament.
It's the 11th state tournament berth for Cy Falls, which also advanced in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003,
2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011.
Cinco Ranch and Stratford were the best at last week's Dulles-Fort Bend SQT in Sugar Land, and
along with Cy Falls and Terry, are now on the list of area state qualifiers that also includes
Westfield, Pearland, Manvel, Cy-Fair, The Woodlands, Lamar, Katy, Jersey Village, Cy Ranch and AM
Consolidated.
Cinco Ranch hosts a SQT on Saturday, June 22, as do Arlington Bowie and Marble Falls (just west of
Austin), and on Friday, June 21, there are more SQTs in Corpus Christi, and at Rowlett and Lubbock
Wolfforth.
The 7-on-7 Division I State Tournament (Class 5A and 4A schools) is July 12-13 in Leander at
Southwest Williamson County Regional Park (3005 County Road 175, zip 78641).
La Marque, Rice Consolidated (Altair), Navasota, Episcopal, Kinkaid, Westbury Christian, East
Bernard, Columbus and College Station have secured spots for the 7-on-7 Division II State
Tournament (Class 3A, 2A and A schools) on July 11-12 in Leander.
Vizcaino shines
Former Langham Creek defensive back Carlos Vizcaino, who graduated this spring, participated in
the Blue-Grey National Super Combine on June 8-9 at the New England Patriots training complex in
Foxboro, Mass.
Vizcaino earned his trip to the super combine as a top performer at a regional event on April 13 at
the University of Texas-Arlington, and was one of 170 qualifiers from various region combines in 26
states.
2. The combines are part of the selection process for prospective participants in the Blue-Grey National
All-Star Game on Jan. 11, 2014 at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
All-star rosters will be released at a later date.
