Notas do Editor

  1. This is about the size needed for the 200 to 600 cow operations specifically designed for the MA farms. This is a 300K gallon tank, with organics arriving on the site in a 6K gallon tanker truck, pumped into a storage tank, and blended with the animal waste. No organic sees the light of day. Permits are under the composting rules of the DEP. There also need to be positive rules from the net metering — allowing for the new virtual metering interpretation where behind the meter and for the excess the farms receive the retail price. The MA Green Communities Act passed in July 2008 provides for this. The contemplated revisions to the MA composting rules will also recognize digesters as a form capable of taking organic waste onto the farm in the quantities needed.
  2. We welcome comments and suggestions.
