2. Before the Convention:
Find out the hashtag and become
involved in the online conversation.
Download my free Slideshare: Get
the Most out of Twitter At a
Convention for more details.
Advertise your involvement with the
convention on your social media:
Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.
2
3. Preparing a Shareable Presentation
Include your social media links on the first
page of your slides- if they Tweet you, you
want them to be able to link to you!
Have Tweetable content. These are snappy,
content-filled statements that are less than
100 characters long. You can even point
them out during your presentation- “Here’s
something to tweet.”
3
4. Pre-write Your Own Tweets!
Pre-writing your own tweets gives
your audience exactly the quality
material you want them to re-tweet,
and it’s easier for them- Win, Win!
4
5. What to include in pre-written tweets:
-Links to your official bio(s) or company page(s).
-Links to where the slides are on the internet.
-Tweetable statements.
-Tweetable images- if you have some graphics,
consider formatting them for the internet (square,
with the main content in the center third of the
image). Remember to mark them with a Twitter
handle or web page that comes back to you!
5
6. How do I send my pre-written tweets?
Use Hootsuite to save the scheduled tweets.
Caution: If you are out of your normal time zone,
test scheduling a tweet to make sure the timing is
what you think it is!
6
7. Making my tweet automatic scares me… what
if something goes wrong?!
You can have a friend send your Tweets for you
during your presentation. You’ll just have to
organize your material and make sure they know
exactly what to send when.
It’s good manners to indicate that someone else is
sending your Tweets at that time, you can write
something like:
“I’m about to get on stage & @lisasmith will be
managing my Twitter for the next hour.”
7
8. Why do I want to put my slides on Slideshare?
-Slideshare will return higher on a Google search
than almost any internet property you own. If they
search your subject in Google, your Slideshare will
come up!
-Slideshare makes it easier for your convention
audience to share your material in real time.
(Convention websites are usually locked and
difficult to navigate.)
-Slideshares can ben embedded in your LinkedIn
profile and on your website.
8
9. What else can I put on Slideshare?
You can also upload PDF hand-outs to Slideshare.
Slideshare has recently started allowing videos.
9
10. How do I make a Slideshare account?
Go to http://www.slideshare.net/signup
Slideshare is owned by LinkedIn and steadily being
integrated into their ecosystem, so I suggest using
“Connect with LinkedIn”.
Fill in your profile. Having a profile image (a photo
or a logo) is very important to getting views, but if
you don’t have one now you can get one later.
10
11. What privacy options should I select?
Select what you are comfortable with.
I have selected that anyone can send me private
messages and anyone can share content with me.
It has never been abused.
11
12. Which social profile connections should I
select?
Link to any available social profile where you have a
professional presence.
In the LinkedIn connection click the “Settings” and
un-select the options to display your uploads and
content.
Why? You may want to upload at a non-peak
time, but not want to announce your upload until
later. Un-selecting these options lets you control
when you make your announcement on LinkedIn.
12
13. What content default should I choose?
You keep the copyright of anything you upload to
Slideshare.
However, you can choose to use a Creative
Commons license instead. A Create Commons
license lets people make copies of your materials
according to the parameters you set.
You can read more at
http://www.creativecommons.org & see the end of
this slide deck to see which Creative Commons
license I use.
13
14. Why would I want to let people make copies of
my material?
First, make sure you are allowed to. If you created
the material as an employee of a company, they
may own the copyright.
If the material is yours, allowing people to make
copies helps spread your name in the industry. This
may be why you are speaking at the convention in
the first place!
14
15. How do I upload a Slideshare?
-Click the Upload button on the upper right.
-You will be given a few Upload options. Select the plain
UPLOAD button.
-Look at the title, is it formatted the way you want? You
can change it.
-Select a category and type a brief description.
-Tags are like SEO key words, these are very important!
-Save.
15
16. What if my upload fails?
If you have a lot of large graphics you may need to
re-save them in smaller files to use them.
Try uploading at a non-peak time such as late at
night or early in the morning.
16
17. Bonus: Audio Slideshare is gone, what if I want
to share a recording on the internet?
Download iSpring from http://www.iSpringSolutions.com
They have a free trial that will get you through one
convention.
This program allows you to match your slides against an
audio recording and format for YouTube.
You can get free and fairly easy to use audio editing
software here:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
CRP has these programs & a high-quality microphone-
we can made your YouTube slide video for you!

18. What can CRP do for your social
media?
Strategy
Execution
Key Personnel Engagement
18
19. Background on Clinical Research
Performance, Inc.
19
CRP was founded by Mary D’Rozario
in 2012 to provide services to clinical
research sites.
We have moved into providing social media strategy
and execution, primarily in the life sciences industry.
20. Strategy
What channels should you be using?
Who is your target viewer on that channel and what
do you want them to get out of the interaction?
What method are you going to use to track ROI
from your social media efforts?
We can help you work through asking and
answering these questions.
20
21. Execution
Once you have a strategy, you will need micro and
blogging content which is aligned with that strategy.
Often 100% outsourcing is neither advisable nor
affordable. We can work with you to create a mix of
mentoring and direct content creation.
21
22. Key Personnel Engagement
You are a solopreneur or everyone is telling your CEO
that she has to be visible on social media. But who has
the time?
Key personnel social media engagement requires a
team approach. A social media strategist and mentor
can help keep the team going the right direction.
