Environmental, Health and Safety Advisory Services

MAI can provide extensive environmental advisory services
pertaining to the review and interpretation of new and extensive
environmental advisory services pertaining to the review and
interpretation of new and existing environmental, health and
safety regulations. Personnel can develop and implement
strategies to meet applicable regulations. Compliance strategies
may include the development of required environmental, health
and safety plans, permit applications or redesign of facility
processes.

MAI personnel have a broad range of experience in the
development of Environmental Management System (EMS)

                              13
related documentation. EMS documentation typically involves
the documentation of policies and procedures enacted in order
to achieve compliance with applicable environmental, safety
and health regulations. MAI reviews existing processes and
procedures to determine compliance with environmental, safety
and health regulations and company policies. These procedures
are documented in a systematic approach to support continued
and future compliance. In addition, MAI identifies gaps and
develops processes and procedures for the correction of
identified gaps to support continual program and process
improvement.

Martin & Associates International personnel can provide
services to design and implement audit programs. Audit
programs can include internal audits, third party conducted
audits and lessee and vendor audits. Audits can serve as an
important diagnostic tool in evaluating a facility’s overall
environmental, safety and health management system. Audit
protocols promote consistency among regulated entities and
ensure audits are conducted in a concise and comprehensive
manner. MAI will develop an audit program based on the
client’s specific needs. An internal audit program consists of
development of audit protocols used internally to verify
environmental, safety and health compliance. Internal audits are
conducted by a facility employee with sufficient knowledge to
conduct a thorough investigation utilizing a predetermined set
of criteria. MAI can also develop an audit program for use by a
third party. Third party audits are conducted to assist a facility
in obtaining an outside perspective of their EHS compliance.
Lessee audit programs are designed for those clients who lease
buildings, land, or other structure to a third party. The lessee
audits are used to verify environmental, safety and health
compliance and minimize potential risk to the client. In
addition, vendor’s audits assist with management status. MAI
will also assist the client in development of a system used to
identify and track corrective actions resulting from audits
findings. Identifying potential EHS liabilities can reduce
unnecessary expenditures and increase the perception of EHS
stewardship.

                                   Cliff Cooper

Clifford A Cooper CIH, has earned a High-Performance Building Design
Professional certification from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and
Air-Conditioning Engineers.
ASHRAE’s certification program identifies individuals who have demonstrated
they have the necessary training and tools for the design of high-performance
buildings that live up to their performance capability.
“An ASHRAE certification benefits building owners, employers and individuals,” says
ASHRAE President Bill Harrison. “Firms who employ ASHRAE-certified engineers
are better able to promote their services, and individuals who are certified approach
their design responsibilities with greater confidence. ASHRAE certification helps
designers demonstrate that they have mastered a certain body of knowledge in order to
stand out from their competition.” Currently ASHRAE has certified just 50 High
Performance Building Design Professionals in the U.S. and Canada.

                                         18
ASHRAE developed the HBDP program with the Illuminating Engineering Society of
North America (IESNA) and the Mechanical Contractors Association of America
(MCAA) and with input from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the
Green Building Initiative (GBI). This certification demonstrates knowledge of
sustainability concepts, HVAC and sustainable processes and environmental
improvement programs and rating systems; energy analysis; indoor environment;
controls and monitoring; benchmarking with performance metrics; water conservation;
commissioning in sustainable construction; and operation and maintenance of high-
performance buildings.
Cooper is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Dear Mr. Martin:

Welcome to the Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership (MBP3)! We are pleased that
you have made a commitment to undertake voluntary pollution prevention (P2). Whether you are
initiating or expanding existing P2 practices, you serve as a role model for others by demonstrating
the economic and environmental benefits of P2. Your decision to become a MBP3 Partner attests

goals for the coming year. A web-based annual reporting form has been developed and can be

Business Partnerships. This annual report form is available in hard copy or you can also take
advantage of our online reporting form that can be quickly filled out and submitted via e-mail.

I am enclosing some relevant P2 materials, as well as some additional program information. If you
