2. This questionnaire about equality at sports
was answered by 86pupils (45 girls and 36
boys) aged 9-12. They belong to 5th-6th
levels in Gines Morata school. Almería
(Spain).
3. According with the
results, all of our pupils
practice some sports.
Most of them usually
practice sport in oficial
teams and federations
where they have to
follow regulated
training and they
participate in
competitions.
They can practice
some of this sports at
school: basketball,
taekondo and tennis.
4. The most popular sports for boys in our school is football
about 40 % and basketball 20 % and handball 15%.
For girls the most popular are basketball 30%,
gymnastic 30 % and swimming 15 %.
We can say that there are some stereotypes about
children’s preferences of sport. Football is considered a
sport for men, meanwhile gymnastic is for women.
5. The question about sports that can be played by
boys and girls together has been misunderstood.
The pupils wrote sports that they are used to play
together at school (all ot them), instead of official
competitions. For this reason we have not relevant
information about this topic.
6. Almost all of our students know about sports that can be
played for people with special needs. We have been
working about sports at school and they had the chance
of playing some of this sports. They also met athletes
with special needs at school. So they know about
basketball, swimming, football, cycling and athletics.
7. They do not know too much about sports
that can be played only by men or only by
women. About 50 % answered that there
are not any sports of these types.
However we can find another stereotypes
about sports in this answers due to the
fact that some of the children (25%)
considered that just men can play football,
and only women can practice gymnastic
and ballet.
A small number of pupils can explain that
sumo is for men and sincronized
swimming for women.
8. The most popular sporty women are the Spanish
who won medals in the last Olympic games: Mireia
Belmonte, Carolina Marín and Ruth Beitia.
About the foreigner sporty women the most famous
for our pupils are Serera Williams, Nadia
Commanecci and Maria Sharapova..
