The Dog and the Bone
One day, a dog looked in the window of a butcher’s
shop. “Aha!” said the dog, “that’s a big bone!” It is
red. It has meat on it. “Yum! Yum!” the dog went into
the shop.he jumped up and took the bone. The
butcher shouted “Stop! Stop! Come back!” but the greedy dog ran off
with the bone. The butcher chased the dog. But the dog was too quick.
Soon the dog was far away. The butcher was not
near. The dog was happy. The dog came to a bridge
over a river. As he went across the bridge, he
looked down at the water. He stopped. “Aha!” said
the dog, “there is another dog. It has a bone, too.
It is bigger bone than my bone.”
The greedy dog wanted the bigger bone. He put his
head near the water. “Grrrrrrrrr,” he said, and then he
snapped. His mouth opened and “PLOP!” the bone fell
into the water. Now the dog had no bone. He was not
happy but sad.
