Association ARABIS is a fully independent non-profit public benefit
organization. Founded in 2010 by young people graduated in MENA
studies and Arabic language at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski " its
main objectives are to intensify relations between the Bulgarian and Arab
societies in all spheres of public life and to promote the active participation
of young people in building active citizenship in a tolerant and democratic
society.
Our target groups are students and young people from Bulgarian, Arabic or mixed origin, as
well as any foreigners residing in Bulgaria. ARABIS 's governing body consists of three members
headed by a chairman, and a general assembly of twenty-five members who participate in the
organization’s activities planning and the implementation of its goals. We address problems
such as inter-cultural communication, youth entrepreneurship, anti-xenophobia and integration
of refugees, activecitizenship of young peopleand social welfaredevelopment.
EXPERIENCE
Through the voluntary work and donations of its members and supporters ARABIS has up till
now implemented 6 own projects without anу external funding. In 2013 we implemented 1 EU
funded project YiA BG13/A1.2/221/R2 and 1 Sofia Municipality funded project backed up by
the private sponsorshipof QatarAirlines.
Since the early days of the organization, we offer an internship program and till now have
mentored some 10 graduates, most of whom have ultimately become members of the
organization including its current governing body members. That is, the management of the
organization have always paid due attention to promoting self-development, creativity and
spirit of entrepreneurship amongst its members, supporters, fans and these efforts have
ultimately paid off as most of our initiatives are managed and implemented on a volunteer
workbasis.
Till very recently our activities were concentrated in the inter-cultural dialogue field, along with
youth work facilitation and stimulation of self-development and active citizenship. In order to
guarantee financial stability to the organization, a circle of members have created, developed
and implemented a series of services that ultimately helped the most active and competent
establish a trade company that provides services to customers and financing to the
organization.

LITHUANIA, Kaunas - Ateitis
Ateitis federation is the oldestyouth organizaton in Lithuania.Themain five

intellectual growth,family values,patriotismand socialresponsibility.This
NGO is active in the public life as well as in high schools, universitiesand

growaswell-rounded personatiliesthrough themeansof non formaleducation
during the eventsorganized by Ateitisfederation.
EXPERIENCE
Being one of three biggest youth NGOs in Lithuania (more than 3000 members), Ateitis
federation has many ongoing projects all of which requires timely and high-quality
management. Good communication (both internal and external) and PR skills is vital for
organizations like this because its future rests on ability to communicate effectively in order to
provide organization with new members to change the generations that grow up and leave the
youthcategory.
As it has been noted above Ateitis federation seeks to be actively seen in a public life of
Lithuania. Ateitis federation has a goal to influence public life in Lithuania to make it more
youth friendly and future-oriented having as a model 5 principles of Ateitis federation. This
goal is impossible to achieve without proper use of new technologies or without appropriate
skillsof communicationandpublicrelations.
Ateitis federation has always tried to be on the cuttingedge of technologies among youth NGO
in Lithuania. It was early 90’s when the first Macintosh computers had been begun to use. The
attitude to use whatever is useful and new persists till this day. Ateitis federation is active in
social media, blogging, uses new technologies both for spread of news, registrations to events
but also for fundraising activities. Because this NGO has many departments throughout the
Lithuania lots of communication takes place via the internet thus making Ateitis federation sort
of a digital herd.
External communication and PR skills have been tested many times in Ateitis federation. Most
seen event was an art-related protest next to National Drama Theater in 2012 which gathered
a lot of publicity.
