- 2. While the concept of recycling may appear to be a fairly recent development, humanity has actually engaged in it for centuries. In fact, supporters of this form of waste management date back to 400BC, as the renowned Greek philosopher Plato was a vocal enthusiast of the idea.
- 3. This is likely due to the fact that materials were far less common in the ancient and medieval worlds than they are today. As such, people would make use of what they had as much as possible, before finding other purposes for any tool or resource that could no longer be used for its original purpose.

While it still involves altering the purpose of goods and materials, rather than discarding them, in a more technological advanced world the process has become more complex than ever before. This is why it is important for waste management companies to continue to evolve and provide the facilities required to make maximum use of the resources that we have.
