Group in September 2001
 Opening of its first four stores in Kolkata,
Indore, Bangalore and Hyderabad
Big Bazaar is popularly known as the ‘Indian
Wal-mart’ today
The largest brand in the hypermarket

Entered into an agreement with Hindustan
Unilever to co-develop and co-brand bakery
products, which would be sold exclusively at Big
Bazaar stores
Electronic Bazaar and Furniture Bazaar are
launched
Big Bazaar tied up with Indian banking giant ICICI

Biyani to start big bazaar hyper market. But most people think that the idea to start big
bazaar was from Wal-Mart but it wasn’t .

which ensure high quality at low rises making it a unique brand that are attracted to buy.
