WHAT IS SOCIAL NETWORKING?
•    Social Networking is defined as a network of friends, colleagues, and other
     personal contacts.
    • You can have a social network of friends at work, friends at school, or
      acquaintances.
    • Social networking has taken on a new definition though when we think of
      online social networking
       • IE: Facebook, twitter, fousquare, ect
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SOCIAL
             NETWORKING?
 Creating new ideas with your network of friends, voicing your opinion on
  certain matters, or even just to know what is going on in others daily lives.




 Social Networking can have its pros can cons, mainly being the speed at
  which information is transmitted and the amount of time we put into them
SOCIAL NETWORKING: AT HOME
 Meet friends, family, acquaintances. Stay in touch with relatives, long lost
  friends. Chat with online buddies without leaving website

 Stay in the loop for local events, parties and birthdays

 View pictures posted by family and friends. View posted videos or 3rd party
  music playlists

 Follow friends or artists to see what they are up to. Show friends and family
  your current location

 Hear music that you like and see what other think about it
SOCIAL NETWORKING: AT WORK
•     Market your business through online social media. IE, ads, videos, profiles,
    ect

•     Reach different demographics and see how you can market to those using
    interest based ads.

•     SAVE MONEY!!!! Lessen advertisement expenses by using social media to
    target customers instead of commercials, tv ads

•    Increased traffic to particular product, social media is used by millions

SPOTIFIY: WHY DOES IT MATTER?
• Listen to millions of songs from different albums, artists and genres for free.

• You can create personalized playlists that can be listened to online or off.

• Rate songs and share your comments through the Facebook integration

• Available Radio feature where you can listen to random music playlists based
  on genre and artist

• Access to integrated or downloadable applications through the Spotify client.
  Eg. Pitchfork, Last.fm, Billboard, Fuse, …
SPOTIFY: PROS/CONS
PROS:

• Completely free, Spotify Client can be installed on almost any operating system
  (Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile,…)

• Paid version lets you skip ads, have unlimited access to music, ability to listen to
  music offline and more for only $10/month

CONS:
• Free version is limited by 320kbps/ music streaming. Must listen through
  advertisements, can not access music on mobile devices without premium account
• Music artists are not benefitting from this revenue model. Free music makes it hard
  for the artist and labels to profit on.
• Only way to access Spotify is through the use of a Facebook account. If you don’t
  have a FB account then you can not register

SPOTIFY: HOW TO USE

1. Download the spotify client: www.spotify.com
2. Install client for specified operating system
3. Sign in with Facebook account OR create a new Facebook account
4. Enjoy access to millions of songs!
5. Preview songs from new or featured artist in homepage
6. Facebook sidebar integrations lets you know what your friends are
   listening to
7. Share music tracks with friends using the integrated Inbox feature
8. Find and download apps through the integrated app store

• Users can access music for free, listen to as much as one desires, be able to

• Need to listen to ads, limit number of skips, do not physically own music track

• Ads can be made by business to promote products and services
• Music choices in Spotify profile are cached and sent to outside businesses for
  personalized advertising
• Businesses can easily integrate Facebook profiles to market services

WHAT IS SOCIAL NETWORKING? • Social Networking is defined as a network of friends, colleagues, and other personal contacts. • You can have a social network of friends at work, friends at school, or acquaintances. • Social networking has taken on a new definition though when we think of online social networking • IE: Facebook, twitter, fousquare, ect

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING?  Creating new ideas with your network of friends, voicing your opinion on certain matters, or even just to know what is going on in others daily lives.  Social Networking can have its pros can cons, mainly being the speed at which information is transmitted and the amount of time we put into them
  • 4. SOCIAL NETWORKING: AT HOME  Meet friends, family, acquaintances. Stay in touch with relatives, long lost friends. Chat with online buddies without leaving website  Stay in the loop for local events, parties and birthdays  View pictures posted by family and friends. View posted videos or 3rd party music playlists  Follow friends or artists to see what they are up to. Show friends and family your current location  Hear music that you like and see what other think about it
  • 5. SOCIAL NETWORKING: AT WORK • Market your business through online social media. IE, ads, videos, profiles, ect • Reach different demographics and see how you can market to those using interest based ads. • SAVE MONEY!!!! Lessen advertisement expenses by using social media to target customers instead of commercials, tv ads • Increased traffic to particular product, social media is used by millions
  • 7. SPOTIFY: WHAT IS IT? Quick glance: • Social music streaming website/application • Access millions of free songs • Create personalized music playlists • Share music history with Facebook friends

SPOTIFIY: WHY DOES IT MATTER? • Listen to millions of songs from different albums, artists and genres for free. • You can create personalized playlists that can be listened to online or off. • Rate songs and share your comments through the Facebook integration • Available Radio feature where you can listen to random music playlists based on genre and artist • Access to integrated or downloadable applications through the Spotify client. Eg. Pitchfork, Last.fm, Billboard, Fuse, …

SPOTIFY: PROS/CONS PROS: • Completely free, Spotify Client can be installed on almost any operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile,…) • Paid version lets you skip ads, have unlimited access to music, ability to listen to music offline and more for only $10/month CONS: • Free version is limited by 320kbps/ music streaming. Must listen through advertisements, can not access music on mobile devices without premium account • Music artists are not benefitting from this revenue model. Free music makes it hard for the artist and labels to profit on. • Only way to access Spotify is through the use of a Facebook account. If you don’t have a FB account then you can not register
  • 11. SPOTIFY: HOW TO USE 1. Download the spotify client: www.spotify.com 2. Install client for specified operating system 3. Sign in with Facebook account OR create a new Facebook account 4. Enjoy access to millions of songs! 5. Preview songs from new or featured artist in homepage 6. Facebook sidebar integrations lets you know what your friends are listening to 7. Share music tracks with friends using the integrated Inbox feature 8. Find and download apps through the integrated app store

SPOTIFY : PERSONAL VS BUSINESS Personal • Users can access music for free, listen to as much as one desires, be able to share music with friends • Communicate with Facebook friends, share and comment on music tracks • Need to listen to ads, limit number of skips, do not physically own music track Business • Ads can be made by business to promote products and services • Music choices in Spotify profile are cached and sent to outside businesses for personalized advertising • Businesses can easily integrate Facebook profiles to market services
