6. Their father was Lewis Dalton from Jackson County, Missouri. He was a
saloon keeper in Kansas City, Missouri, when he married Adeline Younger.
By 1882, the family was living in the Indian Territory, now the state of
Oklahoma. A few years later, they had settled in Coffeyville in southeastern
Kansas
Their first robbery target was a gambling house in Silver City, New
Mexico.

five members of the Dalton Gang (Grat
Dalton, Emmett Dalton, Bob Dalton, Bill
and Dick Broadwell) rode into the small
town of Coffeyville, Kansas.

Many of the townspeople gathered in
Isham's Hardware Store near the banks.
Not only did the unarmed citizens get rifles,
shotguns, and ammunition, but the store
also provided an excellent view of the two
banks and the alley where the gang had tied
their horses
