  • 14. 14 Don’t Make them Type Touch To Search • Mobile is a hand held device, so make heavy use of facets to drive interactions • Use images instead of text that users can make an association with • Go native, use sliding gestures to paginate • Use shake for discovery Use New Interaction Metaphors
  • 15. 15 Use Context for Discovery • Location is inherent to mobile, use geolocation searches to surface content for discovery • Mobile devices are highly personalized, use past activity and aggressive assumptions about the user.
  • 16. 16 If you have to make them type Search Suggest • Attention span is limited, where appropriate, drive towards instant search and reduce a few taps. •Use Search Suggestions to assist them and reduce their work • Get quickly on a OneBox and don’t scare them with multiple search boxes (NLP, query classification) • Go beyond simple spelling correction, and start using on-the-fly spell correction
