11/29/09 Good Afternoon, every body, I am a humble researcher in the field of yoga. Over more than 25 years, I have been living, practicing yoga, meeting spiritual masters and doing my Sadhana. After studying science and entering into the field of Yoga and continuously learning yoga for I can say with faith based on my Sadhana that it is becoming true in life and living what L Krishna says in BG while treading the path of yoga –Verses The beauty of Yoga and Vedic Lifestyle is that even a little practice takes you far away from sufferings, problems that are commonly known as Stress and Stress Induced Disorders and physical and other afflictions Presenting applied aspect of Yoga and Vedic Lifestyle Veda points to infinite knowledge so there are Four Vedas, Aryanaka, Brahman and Upanishads, smiriti, Ramayana and Mahabharta, six organs of Indian philosophy one organ is yoga I choose to take you all to applied aspects of vedic and yogic lifestyle , integrating different schools, presenting synthesis behind contradictions is my aim
11/29/09 2. The Vedic and Yoga lifestyle aims at self discovery by conscious evolution and transformation for PPSS excellence for PPS and MSR. The aspirations of Modern Man and Ancient Rishis are same. 3H-3A-LEAP –PPSS-PPS But much more than that experience of self as SatChitAnanda This means realization of eternal, infinite and all pervading consciousness This further means in Veda and yoga as not only living but becoming 5F To Know, To Live and To be
11/29/09 3. Let us understand how ancient spiritual and yoga masters validate their experiences after Sadhana and living a life style inspired by Vedic and yogic principles. I have taken examples of spiritual masters and yoga masters who did Sadhana in 19 th and 20 th centuries and became inspiring figures in their lifetime. There are many expressions when Sadhana is perfected. Sadhana is a way of life or a specific lifestyle adopted to LMA in LEAP, in 3H, in PPSS and PPS Dance – when we are in extreme happiness in life-we celebrate the event or occasion but what if entire life becomes a celebration. We are intoxicated all the time. Thought when enlightened by vision and intuition within – yoga says a state beyond mind – the person enters into perfect peace, intelligence and what comes out becomes principles L Buddha and Mahavira are the two great masters who inspired through their presence of Eternal Peace manifest in life and living ( it is dais that L Mahavira used to meditate for 6 months, 1 year or years together)
11/29/09 4. There are many expressions of the Vedic and yogic Lifestyle with similar but not identical realization in life There are many other expressions of the perfection in Sadhana when achieved by any person following the path of Veda and yogic lifestyle. Infinite ways of expressions of one and only realizations – Real Self within which is known as Brahman or the highest state of consciousness
11/29/09 5. There is something that is common in all masters. There is something approach that is common within even their approach outwardly appears different, often contradictory what I presented before about the experiences and expressions of these great masters What is the secret of Sadhana or lifestyle they adopt to reach the state
11/29/09 6 What is the secret of Sadhana or lifestyle they adopt to reach the state or experience of constant state of 3H , LEAP There is one approach to life and living what may be termed as Modern approach – Matter Based approach Modern Paradigm of Living. Modern Paradigm of Living always try to discover the cause of sufferings and happiness in the matter and material phenomena. I have headache now- this paradigm will say – cause may be fear of presenting before, disturbed sleep, constipation, migraine, cold and cough, fever, there are endless causes –Matter Based approach– outward, material, mechanism Consciousness based approach –separate the headache from your Real Self that is pure consciousness independent of all that is known to mind. –inward, entering into a higher state where you experience separation from head and headache We do it unconsciously when we are watching movie for 3 hours we never complain of body pain but when I say sit for meditation for 20 minutes in the center, lot of expressions comes-my body is stiff, I have pain in the body, I can not sit for long- Yogic and vedic lifestyle says –the problem of identification with body how to know a little deeper what is Matter and Consciousness Approach to life are ?
11/29/09 As the consciousness involved itself into successive stages it looses its attributes what we call as lower satates of consciousness physical consciousness –lower Vital consciousness-lower than the mind Mental consciousness- lower than self Spiritual consciousness –
11/29/09 7. Understanding Sadhana or Lifestyle –III science and Yoga and Vedic lifestyle our science is wonderful and we cannot ignore, we cannot reject, we can not refuse as modern life is now dependent upon it – mostly outer life –tremendous discoveries in Transportation, communication and their applications But the inner life is still in deplorable – the life of quantity has changed but of quality has not changed rather became worse –more violence, more hatred, jealously, killings, genocide, chaos, stress , stress induced disorders. We do not have problems of luxuries, means, opportunities but basic problems of existence We have traveled too far from ourselves –moon, mars and we have forgotten ourselves in that process and understanding That is why we can buy luxuries pleasure) but not peace; can buy medicines but not health; can reduce sorrows by taking medicines at molecular and cellular levels but can not bring Ananda( a state of continued happiness independent of anything outside) There are problems of not LMA out of LEAP or higher consciousness or Real Self what Yoga and Vedic lifestyle inspires all of us to follow
11/29/09 8. Understanding Sadhana or Lifestyle –III Discovery within is the way is yogic and Vedic lifestyle Sadhana if you call it a way of life of Vedic seers and masters then the Sadhana aims at Self Discovery what Sri Aurobindo calls Yoga If the matter based approach discovers in the material world, then Yoga and Vedic Lifestyle seeks answers by Self Discovery This Self Discovery takes one to an experience and realization of unitary consciousness beyond mind known in Vedas as SatChitAnanda. Veda declares about an experience – Self is within, I am within the same Self and Self is all. Hundreds of research studies done in yoga and different practices of yoga suggests that Physiological changes Biochemical changes Psychological changes all has one common thing is gathering of mind within to discover your own self – may be higher state of mind- silent mind Higher states of consciousness Homeostasis Transformation of negative emotions
11/29/09 10 Then what Yoga and Vedic Paradigm There is an existence beyond mind which Yoga and Veda asserts And there is a reason of this assertion If matter evolves to life. life evolves to mind. Then mind must evolve to something higher than the mind we may call it Soul, Self or Divine element within all of us We say life is involved in the matter, mind is involved in life. There is something that is involved in mind that needs to be discovered is the aim of yoga and Veda. And Lifestyle is defined , directed and refined with one and only one aim is to evolve into something higher than mind The Existence is guided by 5F Yoga and Veda offers a science and technology of living, moving and acting in Equanimity and Skill in Action
11/29/09 11 Yoga and Vedic Lifestyle aims at both Inner and outer lives. The inner is enriched by awakening and outer is expressed with skills for PPSS and PPS Inner Awakening is brought forward for PPS It is a balance between right hemisphere and left hemisphere
11/29/09 Reflections about Yogic and Vedic Lifestyle the Samhitas, the Brahmanas and the Upanishads indicate changes in the practice of the Vedic truth undergone with the march of time. The spiritual discipline of the Samhitas has for its aim the attainment of Godhood which is an aspect of the cosmic manifestation of the transcendental triune principle, Existence-Consciousness-Bliss. The discipline of the Brahmanas tries to manifest the spirit of the former through external practice. And the spiritual discipline of the Upanishads does not concern itself so much with the manifestation of the gods as it does with getting absorbed in the ultimate Source from whence the gods originated. In other words, the aim of the Upanishad truth is to indicate how the light of consciousness dwelling in the heart of everyone like a steady flame of the size of the thumb can be merged in to the boundless ocean of the transcendental consciousness.
11/29/09 14 In the context of human life, dharma consists of all that an individual undertakes in harmony with Divine expectations and his own inner spiritual aspirations, actions that would ensure order and harmony with in himself and in the environment in which he lives. Dharma is considered to be the first cardinal aim because it is at the root of everything and upholds everything. For example see what happens when a person amasses wealth without observing dharma or indulges in sexual passion against the social norms or established moral values. Any action performed without observing dharma is bound to bring misery and suffering and delay ones salvation. Hinduism therefore considers it rightly as the first cardinal aim of life. The Bhagavad gita informs us that desire is an aspect of delusion and one has to be wary of its various movements and manifestations. The best way to deal with desires is to develop detachment and perform desireless actions without seeking the fruit of ones actions and making an offering of all the actions to God. This way our actions would not bind us to the cycle of births and deaths. Hinduism permits sexual freedom so long as it is not in conflict with the first aim, i.e. dharma. Hindu scriptures emphasize that the purpose of sex is procreation and perpetuation of family and society, while the purpose of dharma is to ensure order in the institution of family and society. A householder has the permission to indulge in sex, but also has the responsibility to pursue it in accordance with the laws of dharma. Marriage is a recognized social institution and marriage with wife for the purpose of producing children is legitimate and in line with the aims of dharma.
