Lynas recently completed construction of its Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Gebeng, Malaysia. Based in Sydney, Lynas Corporation Ltd. plans to launch new operations in the latter half of 2012 that will propel it to the forefront of the global Rare Earths market. Rare Earths, the 15 elements on the periodic table known as the Lanthanide series, play an extremely important role in the production of many 21st century technologies, including efficient lighting, hybrid vehicles, and digital equipment. Today, nearly 95 percent of all Rare Earths come from production plants in China, a model that Lynas Corporation aims to change in the immediate future.
