The document discusses the concept of green building. It defines green building as increasing efficiency in resource use like energy, water, and materials while reducing environmental impacts. Green buildings are important because they use fewer resources and create less waste, making them healthier and more sustainable. Examples of green building techniques given include solar energy cells, green spaces, rainwater harvesting, and using sustainable materials like wool bricks and solar tiles. The benefits of green building are described as environmental, economic, and social.

2. What is Green Building??
It is the practice of increasing the efficiency
with which building use resources- energy,
water and materials while reducing building
impacts on human health and environment.”
3. Concept
The “Green Building” concept is gaining
importance in various countries, including INDIA.
These are building that waste is minimized at
every stage during the construction and operation
of the building , resulting in low costs
4. Importance of Green Building
The growth and development of our communities has a large
impact on our natural environment.
The manufacturing, design, construction and operation of
the buildings in which we live and work are responsible for
the consumption of many of our natural resources.
Green buildings use less energy, water, create less waste,
and are healthier to live, work, or go to school in than
standard buildings.
5. Growth in green buildings leads to less reliance on fossil
fuels.
1. SOLAR ENERGY CELLS.
2. WINDMILLS.
3. GREENERY IN THE BUILDING
4. RAINWATER HARVESTING ON ROOFTOPS.
5. LARGE WINDOWS FOR LESS USAGE OF ELECTRICITY
8. Wool brick
Obtained by adding wool and
natural polymer found in
seaweed to the clay of the
brick.
37% More strength than burnt
bricks.
Resistant for cold and wet
climate.
9. Sustainable concrete
Crusted glass
Wood chips or slag
by product of steel
manufacturing.
Reduce the
emission of co2
10. Solar tiles
Exist to simply protect
a building
They spend a large a
day absorbing energy
from the sun
11. WHY TO PREFER GREEN BUILDING
CONSTRUCTION CONCEPT:-
To prevent erosion of soil.
Rainwater harvesting.
Use of solar energy
Reduction in usage of water.
Recycling of waste water and use of world class energy efficient practices.
A similar concept is natural building which is usually on a smaller scale and
tends to focus on the use of natural materials that are available locally.
12. BENEFITS OF GREEN BUILDING
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS.
ECONOMICAL BENEFITS.
SOCIAL BENEFITS
13. ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS.
Enhance and protect biodiversity and ecosystems.
Improve air and water quantity.
Reduce waste streams.
Conserve and restore natural resources.
15. SOCIAL BENEFITS
Enhance occupant health and comfort
Improve indoor air quality
Minimize strain on local utility infrastructure
Improve overall quality of life
