CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN MEDELLIN
 In 1955, when Medellin Public Enterprises barely consolidated as an
institution, was born on Christmas lights. For the holiday season, part of the city
is adorned with lights timidly special materials thanks to the contributions of
private enterprise, the authorities and to the press. The people of the Bella Villa
"down" to look at the official power at six in the evening and go over and over the
beach has always constituted the backbone of the Christmas scene. By
1967, Medellin Public Enterprises assumed the realization of "the enlightened"
as they are popularly known, and thus, design, assembly and, of course, costs.
Over time, these lighting systems were improving, becoming one of the biggest
tourist attractions in Medellin year-end season. Additionally, the National
Geographic, on its website, presents the Christmas lights of the city as one of
the ten most beautiful in the world.2EPM had offered its flagship lighting year
after year, only modified at the time dicembrina 1992, when the emergence of
rationing forced to squander all the creativity of its officials to devise a
"decorated" different, and thus does not deprive the Christmas charm City. It was
a different proposal, where the decorations and fire magic, multicolored bulbs
replaced.Today, lighting is an institution for Medellin. Hundreds of people work
for months for thousands of visitors to enjoy at strategic points in the city.
