3. HISTORY
The Tam-tam is a kind of
gong that comes from oriental
culture.
In Occident, was employed
firstly in France in 1791 by
François-Joseph Gossec.

4. CHARACTERISTICS
It is a percussion
instrument, consisting of
a flat circular metal plate
of various alloys, usually
bronze. It has a little
elevation in the centre.

5. HOW TO PLAY IT
 When you hit it, it emits an indeterminated sound.
The origin point of the sound vibration is in the elevation
of the centre.
 Although it’s a relatively soft instrument, it can go
from a pianissimo to a fortissimo.
 It lasts some tenths in emit the sound so the
percussionist has to advance the hit.
 When the percussionist wants to turn off the sound,
he has to do with the hands or hug it.
 It can be played with one or two maces.
