The document presents three initial ideas for promotion packages:
1) A music video for the song "The Past Six Years" showing how a town has evolved over time.
2) A teaser trailer for the horror film "The Cult" about a girl who is possessed by the spirit of an elderly woman through a pair of earrings.
3) A promotion package for an energy bar product aimed at fitness enthusiasts, including TV and radio advertisements.
Peer feedback indicated that idea two for the film trailer was the most developed and interesting concept, while the energy bar idea had been overdone but had good branding elements.
2. music video - promotion package
Genre: Acoustic/Rock
Initial Ideas...
Song: The Past Six Years - Deaf Havana
Audience: Both genders between 15 - 25 whom enjoy Indie/Rock
music. They share the same interests such as going to gigs and
festivals.
Video: Showing the town, how it has evolved over time. To show
the band will live forever through the music no matter what time
period comes in the future.
House Style: The colour scheme for the video/cover would
mostly be dark, dingy colours. It was flash black and white in the
video as if it were an old fashioned silent movie. The font is
simple and black.
3. Teaser trailer promotion package
Name: The name of the ‘film’ will be ‘The Cult’ due to its storyline.
Genre: Horror
Audience: 15+ who enjoy scary, thriller movies.
Music: ‘Dead Silence’ theme tune
Overview: Girl (17) moves to a new house, finds old belongings in the attic (earrings). The
earrings hold an elderly ladies former spirit, when used the lady takes hold of the girl who will
eventually do her bidding. Trailer will show a cut version without the ending to entice
audiences to watch in the cinema.
It will be quite dark in some places due to its genre.
The poster will use a variety of dark colours as well as white to show a contrast. It will be
very simple and without distraction whilst using a big font to attract the audiences attention.
The main idea for the poster is a large picture of an elderly ladies eye, using Photoshop, we will
blacken out the middle and insert a picture of the main actress with her hands up against a
window of some sort. We take inspiration from the pictures below as they hold some similar
interests within the story we want to tell. The film magazine cover for this film will feature the
main character as it is her leading role in a new blockbuster.
4. Product promotion package
Genre: Energy bar product
Audience: Fitness people, sports enthusiasts etc.
The colours in visual advertisement will be bright and bold to
entice the audience. THe main colours will be red, white and blue
to accompany the upcoming Olympics.
One TV advertisement will be set in a local gym and will show a
healthy woman eating the energy bar after exercise. The second
will feature a man so it appeals to both sexes, however, he will be
going for his morning jog. The sponsorship sequence could be
shown before a health/sport related programme on the TV so it is
relevant and more appealing to our target audience.
The radio advertisement will be shown during the sports news as
well on other popular radio stations to get at a larger audience.
The energy bar will be promoted as a breakfast meal/snack.
5. Peer feedback
After showing all three initial ideas to our peers, they all
agreed that idea number two - the trailer for ‘The Cult’ - was
best as it was more thought out, had a lot of extended ideas
and the initial idea for the story line was very interesting and
enticing. They said it would be something they themselves
would be interested in seeing at the cinema.
The least favourite was the energy bar as it has already been
done too many times. However, the colour scheme and idea
behind the Olympic reference was really good.
