Tonight’s event, hosted by Linguisticator and Macunx
VR, will be focused on the potential of VR, AR and mixed
reality in education, life sciences and other non-gaming
spaces. We’ll be celebrating some of the most exciting
real world applications of VR being developed here in
the UK at the moment.
Held in support of the British Dyslexia Association, the
event coincides with the launch of Macunx VR on
Kickstarter. Macunx will allow you to build your own
memory palaces in VR, making learning and
remembering things easier than ever before.

Eleanor Harding, Product Designer at Twitter

Eleanor is a Swiss-army-knife of a product developer
with a history of winning hackathons. She’s the
founder of a Product Development Consultancy called
Rigby/Rose, where she’s worked with startups and
space agencies on impactful emerging technologies.
Currently, she’s consulting as an in-house Product
Designer at Twitter, turning big ideas into elegant
products.
Joe Nash, Developer Relations at Improbable.io

Joe is a developer advocate at Improbable, helping
developers build massive worlds with SpatialOS and
large multiplayer experiences. An unrepentant Haskell
addict, Joe speaks on topics of FP, distributed
systems, and programming language theory. A strong
believer in the benefits of hackathons, Joe is resident
community lead of Hackathon Hackers EU.
Duncan Fitzsimons, Founder at 7th Design &
Innovation

Duncan is an industrial designer and is the director
and founder of 7TH London, a Design and Invention
studio. Previously, he also co-founded and ran the
design consultancy Vitamins. Duncan’s work covers all
industry sectors where people have to interact with
technology, and focuses on creating new innovations
and new experiences that go beyond the norm of new
product development.
Dan Jones, Product Designer & 7th Design &

An award winning Product Designer with a background
in Engineering Design, Dan’s career began as an
apprentice draughtsman He then made the leap to
Product Design and career highlights have included a
Student Starpack Award, showcasing his 3D printed
work in the Science Museum and a 6 month internship
with the Packaging Design Team at Marks and
Spencer. Dan hosted the TeenTech Awards in 2014
and spoke about 3D printing at the Ipex digital printing
convention in 2014 in London.

Dr M. Gil Ortega, Senior Lecturer in Virtual Worlds
at the University of the West of England

MariCarmen Gil Ortega aka Maika is a Senior Lecturer
at the Education Innovation Centre of the University of
the West of England and Programme Leader for the
Masters in Education in Virtual Worlds. Her
background is in Languages and Linguistics with a
strong emphasis in technology enhanced teaching and
learning approaches. Fascinated by the opportunities
that VR offers to enhance the learning experiences of
students and to provide valid and innovative
alternative solutions to some of the challenges
encountered in traditional educational practices, for the
last eight years MariCarmen has been exploring the
use of virtual worlds for education and designing
learning experiences in these environments that would
be difficult, dangerous, costly and/or unethical to
reproduce in the physical world.
Chloe Nicholls, Marketing at EditorEye

Chloe works with startups and entrepreneurs on
marketing, PR and growth strategies. She is currently
working with EditorEye Catalyst, a new platform which
tracks innovation, disruption and new technologies
across global and premium business information
providers. Chloe is passionate about the intersection
of business, technology and entrepreneurship. She
has moderated panels on maintain work/life balance,
the future of smart spaces and entrepreneurship for

Anthony Karydis, Founder & CEO at Mativision

Anthony is an entrepreneur with a track record of
building digital-media technology companies with global
perspective. He started his career in Flight Simulators
with Thomson-CSF (France), worked in multi-national
European R&D projects, taught Digital Media related
subjects for three years in a University, founded and
managed two private companies in Greece, both
leading suppliers of highend Visual Effects systems for
Broadcasting and Advertising. In the early 2000s he
became active in interactive media and applications and
developed “Mativision”, an end-to-end technology for
interactive spherical video applications. Mativision,
based in London since 2012, became an established,
fully commercial 360-video and VR Service, with global
clients including Fox, American Idol, Coach, Samsung,
MTV, Universal, Vodafone and others.
Dr Kate Saunders, CEO at British Dyslexia

The BDA is the voice of dyslexic people. Their aim is to
influence government and other institutions to promote
a dyslexia friendly society, that enables dyslexic people
of all ages to reach their full potential. In the 40 years
that the BDA has been campaigning there has been
many changes in the world of dyslexia, some of them
good. In light of this milestone, the BDA produced a
report in 2012 looking back at the last 40 years and has
made recommendations for the future. In partnership
with The Dyslexia Foundation and after consulting 100
organisations, this report is a wide-ranging and
comprehensive assessment of the current provision for
adults with dyslexia.
Dr Aaron Ralby, CEO at Linguisticator and Founder
of Macunx

Aaron is the founder and CEO of Linguisticator and the
inventor of Macunx. He first started exploring the art of
memory during his PhD in medieval studies when he
learned about techniques monks and scholars used in
the Middle Ages to remember and compose literature.
He subsequently spent several years of research
figuring out how to apply the same techniques to large
and complex systems – like languages.
Albert Kim, DoubleMe
@DoubleMeVR
Albert is the CEO and founder of DoubleMe, a 3D
scanning studio that converts multiple angle videos of
live subjects into one dynamic 3D character in real time.
Based in San José, California, DoubleMe are currently
installing their studio at Ravensbourne University thanks
to VRUK.

Dr Kate Saunders, CEO at British Dyslexia Association @DrKateSaunders, @BDAdyslexia The BDA is the voice of dyslexic people. Their aim is to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society, that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. In the 40 years that the BDA has been campaigning there has been many changes in the world of dyslexia, some of them good. In light of this milestone, the BDA produced a report in 2012 looking back at the last 40 years and has made recommendations for the future. In partnership with The Dyslexia Foundation and after consulting 100 organisations, this report is a wide-ranging and comprehensive assessment of the current provision for adults with dyslexia. Dr Aaron Ralby, CEO at Linguisticator and Founder of Macunx @Linguisticator Aaron is the founder and CEO of Linguisticator and the inventor of Macunx. He first started exploring the art of memory during his PhD in medieval studies when he learned about techniques monks and scholars used in the Middle Ages to remember and compose literature.
