LSC BASKETBALL
The Angelo State men (8-0) and West Texas A&M women (7-0) are the only unbeaten Lone Star Conference
teams after four weeks of non-conference action.
The LSC men have a 43-19 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 9-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 39-25 overall. The women’s squads are currently 16-12 combined against the Heartland,
and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
EJ Reed, Tarleton State University, SR, Forward, Mesquite, Texas, Mesquite HS
Reed, the Lone Star Conference leader in points per game, helped No. 9 Tarleton improve to 7-1 on the year
with a pair of 25-point games in the two wins. Reed scored 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting and pulled down 11
rebounds in a 97-46 rout over Arlington Baptist on Tuesday. Reed added another 25 points on 9-of-11 from the
floor and seven rebounds in a 82-73 win over NAIA No. 25 Our Lady of the Lake. Reed, who is averaging 22.3
points per game, shot 70 percent from the floor, 67 percent on 3-pointers, and 88 percent from the free-throw
line this week.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Trevor Fuller, Midwestern State University, JR, Forward, Dallas, Texas, Episcopal School (San Diego)
Fuller keyed defensive efforts for 14th-ranked Midwestern State in wins over St. Mary’s and Oklahoma Christian
as the Mustangs improved to 7-1 on the season. The 6-8 forward from Dallas averaged 6.5 points and 6.5
rebounds a game to go along with six blocked shots and three steals as MSU held the opposition to 66 points
on 35.9-percent shooting from the field. Fuller’s efforts frustrated OCU 7-footer John Moon to 6-of-15 shooting
and four rebounds Friday night at Ligon Coliseum. Moon came into the game shooting 63 percent from the
floor with averages of 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Fuller finished the night with seven points, six
rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 18 minutes against the Eagles. The performance came on the heels of
a solid performance with six points, seven rebounds, three blocked and one steal Tuesday against St. Mary’s.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Gabby Scott, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Guard, Vancleave, MS, Vancleave HS
Scott had a career week last week as she led the Lions in scoring in both games played. Against Southeastern
Oklahoma State, Scott cashed in a career high of 28 points and shot 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Her six three-
pointers tied her career high in the 20-point rout. Scott picked up where she left off with seven points in the
first quarter against Rogers State shooting a perfect 3-of-3. Scott finished with a team high of 14 points.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, SR, Guard, Fort Sumner, N.M., Howard College
Stinnett paced a strong defensive effort for the Greyhounds, which limited Western New Mexico to just 41
points on 31 percent shooting. The performance allowed Eastern to complete the sweep of in-state rivals after
a win over New Mexico Highlands (Nov. 24). Stinnett and the Hounds held the Mustangs to just six points in
both the second and third quarters and allowed just three three-point baskets. She completed the game with
a team-best three steals.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, the defending LSC Offensive Player of the Week had another
monster week as the sophomore guard led the Buffs to a 1-1 record with a road win at Oklahoma Panhandle
State before snapping a five game win streak at Lubbock Christian on Thursday night. The Arlington, Texas
native averaged 26.0 points per game as he went 17-of-35 (48.6%) from the floor including 11-of-22 (50%) from
deep and 7-of-10 (70%) from the charity stripe to go along with 13 assists, seven rebounds and three steals in
WT’s two games. Tuesday night saw Chavlovich go 9-of-17 from the floor including 8-of-13 from long range to
score a game and season high 31 points.
Shelton Boykin, Angelo State University, led the Rams attack in its only game last week against Northern New
Mexico. The junior totaled 17 points for the game and scored double-digits in every game this season. Against
the Eagles he was 7-13 from the field shooting .538 percent and was perfect from beyond the arch (2-2) and
from the foul line (1-1). He pulled down six boards and added a block to his numbers.
Bretson McNeal, Midwestern State University, led Mustangs to a pair of wins over St. Mary’s (Texas) and
Oklahoma Christian as the Mustangs jumped out to their best start since 2011-12 at 7-1. The senior guard
from Minneapolis averaged 15.5 points per game while shooting 53.3 percent from the field with six 3-pointers
leading MSU in scoring in both games. McNeal buried two triples and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity
stripe for 15 points in a 77-66 win over St. Mary’s on Tuesday. The 6-2 sharpshooter connected on four
3-pointers on 5-of-8 shooting for 16 points in Friday’s 99-66 win over Oklahoma Christian.
Javandon Staves, Eastern New Mexico University, recorded his first career double-double against St. Mary’s,
to help the Hounds go 1-1 on the week with a win over the Rattlers.
Chaunce Hill, Eastern New Mexico University, recorded his first double-double of his career in Eastern’s win

the team’s defense while leading them on offense as well.
Thomas Tshikaya, Angelo State University, had a stellar performance in the Rams only game of the week
against Northern New Mexico. He pulled down double-digit boards (10) against the Eagles. The French native
also tallied a block and a steal for the night. Offensively, the big man added an assist and dropped in 3-4 shots
from within the arc for a total of six points.
Malcolm Hamilton, Tarleton State University, recorded a double-double in both games last week for No. 9
Tarleton with 22 points and 10 rebounds against Arlington Baptist and 14 points, 10 rebounds against NAIA
No. 25 Our Lady of the Lake. Hamilton has three straight double-doubles, his only three of his career. Hamilton
entered Tuesday’s game versus Arlington Baptist with seven steals on the season and recorded seven steals in
two games last week, including six against Arlington Baptist, the seventh-most in Tarleton history. The senior
guard helped limit opponents to only 59.5 points per game and only 35.6 percent shooting.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jacquar Westbrooks, Midwestern State University, recorded a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting
including a perfect 2-of-2 from behind the arc in Midwestern State’s loss to No. 14 Lubbock Christian on
Thursday. Westbrooks scored 11 of her 18 points in the second half to help the Mustangs trim a 31-point deficit
to 14 in the fourth quarter. The Rollins transfer has now recorded double figures in the last two contests for the
Mustangs after a 12-point performance vs. Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, continued her torrid start to the season as the junior averaged a
double-double in a pair of games for Tarleton last week. Iwobi scored 35 points in 54 minutes of game action
for an average of 17.5 points per game against Arlington Baptist and St. Mary’s. In Tuesday’s win over Arlington
Baptist, Iwobi scored a career-high 21 points, which was her first career 20-point game. She followed up with
14 points and 12 rebounds against the Rattlers. For the week, she averaged her 17.5 points per game on .520
shooting from the field, including .333 from downtown, and .889 at the free throw line. She grabbed 22 total
rebounds, including 12 offensive and 10 defensive, while adding an assist and two steals.
Taylor Dorsey, Angelo State University, led the Belles with 24 points in an 85-50 win over St. Edward’s. It is
her fourth game in double figures and the third with at least 22 points. She dished out seven assists in the two
games and was perfect from the free throw line going six-for-six. She his 83-percent from the field on Saturday
and sunk 50-percent for the week.
Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, averaged 13.0 points in two wins for the undefeated Lady Buffs
as they improved to 7-0 on the year. She scored a season-high 18 points all in the second half and 12 points
over the final six minutes keying a 10-0 run as the Lady Buffs battled back for a 76-70 win at upset-minded
Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. She went 16 of 21 from the line (.762) and 12 of 15 at Oklahoma Christian
also all in the second half. Watson had seven assists and four steals for the week as she went 5 of 8 from the
field (.625).
Briana White, Eastern New Mexico University, poured in a game-high 12 points in the Greyhounds’ victory
over Western New Mexico. Her five field goals also were the most for any player from either team. While ENMU
was building a lead in the second quarter, she connected on two of her three three-point attempts and scored
eight points. White also dished out a pair of assists.
Erin Maxwell, Texas Woman’s University, led the Pioneers’ defense with 6.5 rebounds per game and 2.5
blocks per game and helped TWU to a 2-0 record last week. She posted 12 points, 7 rebounds and three
blocks against Texas Wesleyan and then added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks against Oklahoma Christian.
Maxwell helped the Pioneers hold its two opponents to 26.8 percent shooting.
Diamalises Rivera, Angelo State University, was a critical piece to the Belles defensive efforts in two wins last
week. ASU held teams to just 34.1-percent from the field and limited its two opponents to 51.5 point per game.
Rivera was key with 10 total rebounds and two blocks at post. The ASU defense held opponents to single digits
in three of the eight quarters.
Amari Jones, Texas A&M University - Commerce, finished the week pulling down 10.5 rebounds per game
with 16 of them being defensive boards. In addition to her great rebounding, Jones had three blocks, three
assists, one steal, and averaged 6.5 points per game. In the game against Rogers State, her previous school,
Jones recorded her second double double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Madison Parker, West Texas A&M University, tallied the first double-double of the season for the No. 4 West
Texas A&M Lady Buffs with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench in a 74-49 win at Oklahoma Panhandle
State on Wednesday. She tallied four rebounds at Oklahoma Christian in the Lady Buffs’ 76-70 win on Saturday.
Parker went 5 of 12 from the field for the week and 4 of 7 from the line, while pulling down seven offensive and
seven defensive rebounds for the week. She had two steals. Parker and the Lady Buffs held OPSU to under 60
points for the sixth-straight game to open the season and then rallied with a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter to
stave off upset-minded Oklahoma Christian.

The Rams remain 8-0 on the season with its only loss coming in a close exhibition game with Division I University
of Texas Rio Grande Valley. ASU continues to lead the LSC with its high scoring offense (97.4 points per game)
and in scoring margin (23.5 point differential). This week Tre Bennett was a great facilitator and scorer for
the Rams offense last week. The Houston, Texas native led the team with 39 overall points which included 13
against Northern New Mexico and an outstanding 26 in a close exhibition game against Division I University

MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT
The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s
Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
The Lone Star Conference and Frisco Convention &
Visitors Bureau will host the event March 23-24-26.
The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas
for the first time ever at Dr Pepper Arena, a multi-
purpose sports and entertainment venue that seats
about 5,000 for basketball.

Omari Gudul also had a great week and continues
to lead the Rams in rebounding and blocked shots.
The senior pulled down a team high 13 boards in
an exhibition game against Division I University of
Texas Rio Grande while he added four more against
Northern New Mexico College. He also led the squad
in steals and blocks marking two of each against
UTRGV and two blocks against NNMC. The Rams hit

Midwestern State improved to 7-1 on the season
taking home wins over St. Mary’s (Texas) (77-66)
and Oklahoma Christian (99-66) last week... The
Mustangs have at least seven of their first eight
games for the 15th time in school history and are
off to their best start since opening the 2011-12
campaign with 13 consecutive wins... MSU has shot
50 percent or better as a team in each of its last three
games and is five of eight games this season... The
Mustangs rank second in the LSC with a season field

No. 9 Tarleton improved to 7-1 on the season with
wins over Arlington Baptist and NAIA No. 25 Our
Lady of the Lake. It was the third straight win for the
Texans. It was also the third straight game Tarleton
shot over 50 percent from the floor. The Texans
limited opponents to only 59 points per game in
the two wins and 35 percent shooting. Tarleton will
take on Texas-Permian Basin on December 14 at 7:30
p.m.”

Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville lost to #RV St. Edward’s
University despite Troy Jones’ 17 points... the senior
forward went 11-of-12 from the free throw line... Cris
Boleware also reached double figures with 14 points
and two steals... the Javelinas return to the hardwood
on Dec. 12 at Texas A&M International... they are
currently 5-2 on the season and rank No. 10 in the
D2SIDA South Central Regional poll.
West Texas A&M
The Buffs went 1-1 this past week as they topped
Oklahoma Panhandle State (87-77) on the road on
Tuesday night to win their fifth straight contest before
struggling from the floor on Thursday night as they
fell to Lubbock Christian (75-93) at the Rip Griffin
Center in Lubbock to move their overall record to
6-3 on the season. The Buffs return to the friendly
confines of the First United Bank Center next week
as they host Mid-America Christian on Tuesday night
with tipoff set for 6 p.m. followed by a Saturday
afternoon matchup with the Pioneers of Wayland
Baptist starting at 4 p.m. as a part of a doubleheader
with the #4 Lady Buffs and UT-Permian Basin at 2
p.m. in Canyon. The Evangels of MACU (NAIA, Sooner
Athletic Conference) enter the weekend with an
overall record of 8-1 as they take on Texas Wesleyan
on Saturday night (5 p.m.) in Fort Worth.

The Belles improved to 5-1 with wins over Texas
Wesleyan and St. Edward’s ... ASU’s 85.5 points per
game and 47.2-percent from the field is tops in
the LSC as is the 22.8 margin ... The Belles limited
opponents to single digit points in three of its eight
quarters last week ... Taylor Dorsey added her third
game of at least 20 points and her fourth in double
figures on the season ... She leads the LSC with a 17.7
points per game average ... ASU will travel to Corpus
Christi for an exhibition game before facing St. Mary’s
at home on Sunday.

Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds dominated last week’s contest
at Western New Mexico, to complete a two-game
sweep of in-state Division II rivals. Eastern was
especially dominant in the middle portion of the
game, and held a 36-12 scoring advantage over the
second and third quarters. Eastern’s stifling defense
was reflected in the fact that WNMU held a lead for
just 3:02 of play, while the Hounds led for more than
30 minutes. Briana White was the only ENMU player
to reach double figures (12 pts), but the Hounds had
six players with at least five points. Johna McClelland
contributed eight points and seven rebounds. This
Saturday, ENMU will host Wayland Baptist at Rock
Staubus Gymnasium in Clovis.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State fell to 1-7 on the season after
suffering a 92-71 defeat to No. 14 Lubbock Christian
Thursday in Lubbock. The Mustangs fell behind by
31 points late in the second quarter before trimming
their deficit down to 14 just minutes into the fourth
period. Junior guard Jacquar Westbrooks (18) and
sophomore guard Whitney Taylor (17) both recorded
career highs to lead the Mustangs in scoring. The
Mustangs shot a season-best 42.6 percent (26-of-
61) from the field while connecting on a season-
high eight three-pointers in the defeat. Midwestern
continues its six-game road stretch next weekend at
the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas,
Nevada. The Mustangs will face Western Washington
(Dec. 18) and Stonehill College (Dec. 19) in a pair of
10 p.m. (CT) tipoffs at South Point Arena.
Tarleton State
Tarleton went 1-1 with a win over perennial NCCAA
power Arlington Baptist on Tuesday and a loss to St.
Mary’s Saturday. Ikpeaku Iwobi averaged a double-
double for the week and the TexAnns will return to
action on Dec. 14 against Oklahoma Baptist.
Texas A&M-Commerce
A&M-Commerce went 1-1 on the weekend defeating
Southeastern State Oklahoma 80-60 but loosing to
Rogers State, 50-49. The Lions are 3-4 on the season
and play the next three games on the road. At this
point, the Lions are 0-3 on the road this season.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville’s strong start simmered down
last week as the Javelinas went 0-2 against regional
foes UTPB and St. Mary’s and fell to Our Lady of
the Lake... the Javelinas are now 5-4 on the year
and return to action on Dec. 12 to host Texas A&M
International in Kingsville.
Texas Woman’s
TWU improved to 6-2 record after winning both
games last week. The Pioneers defeated Texas
Wesleyan 54-46 in overtime on Monday and then
knocked off Oklahoma Christian 79-70 on Thursday.
TWU struggled on offense against Texas Wesleyan
but the Pioneer defense was up to the task as
they captured an overtime win. Against Oklahoma
Christian sophomore Morgan Easley scored a career-
high 17 points, senior Danielle Westerfield shot 6-for-
6 from the floor and the Pioneers’ defense held OCU
to a 26.5 percent shooting. Freshman Kara Mitchell
led the team with 11.5 points per game for the week
while junior Erin Maxwell had a team-best 6.5 rpg.
Easley and junior Emily Spector both averaged 11.0
ppg.

The No. 4 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs improved to 7-0
with a pair of road wins this week as they defeated
Oklahoma Panhandle Sate 74-49 and won at upset-
minded Oklahoma Christian 76-70...The Lady Buffs
used a 10-0 run midway through the fourth quarter
at OC to pull out the win...The Lady Buffs were led
by junior Sasha Watson who had a season-high 18
points all in the second half of the game and went
12 of 15 from the line in the second half as well...WT
trailed at half for just the second time this season
26-25 with the other being in the win over then-No.
19 Colorado Mesa the first weekend of the season in
Golden, Colo...OPSU became the sixth-straight team
WT held under 60 points in the 74-49 win...The Lady
Buffs allowed 70 points on Saturday to OC, but are
allowing just 53.3 points per game this season...WT
pulled down a season-high 52 rebounds and 24 on
the offensive end at OPSU on Wednesday...OPSU shot
just .346 from the field and OC shot .348 as WT has
not allowed a team to shoot 40 percent this season
as teams are shooting an even 35 percent against
the Lady Buffs this season...WT upped its free throw
shooting this week to a .678 clip for the season...WT
is 101 of 149 in free throws and has made more than
its opponents have attempted (50-84)...They also
are holding teams to under 60 percent from the line
(.595)...It also marked the best start for the Lady Buffs
since the 2013-14 season when WT also started 7-0
as that team finished in the national championship

Parker tallied the first double-double with 10 points
and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Lady Buffs
at OPSU...Senior Michaela Neuhaus led the team
with three triples and 13.5 points for the week...
Junior Lilley Vander Zee has found the offensive
touch going 10 of 18 form the field as she pulled
down 10 rebounds...WT tallied 25 steals and forced
44 turnovers for the week...WT outrebounded the
opposition by 10 for the week (44.0-34.0).
