Early scholarly and philosophical manuscripts were in Greek. However, by the 5th century CE – and onward – language was mainly spread by conquests, trades, religious affiliations, technological advancements or entertainment. (Gascoigne, 2001). For example, as the geographic territory under Roman control grew, the use of Latin as a common language also spread. In areas under Roman control, Latin was the spoken and written language of the courts and commerce, as well as the language of the Christian church. As the Roman Empire expanded, Latin served as a common language that allowed for people of diverse linguistic backgrounds to be able to communicate. Onward and by the early 14th century, the trend toward the use of vernacular language had spread throughout most of Europe. As monarchies throughout the region began to consolidate, the use of vernacular languages contributed to an increasing nationalism, or feeling of pride in one’s own nation, and in this case among people of similar linguistic backgrounds. People began to feel more connected to local leaders than they did to influences from afar. These sociopolitical shifts, along with the development of moveable type (the printing press), helped to ensure the success of the vernacular languages during the Renaissance. Assignment: The goal of this assignment is to research and report on the origins of vernacular language, and its spread while also providing evidence of Latin’s influence on all Western languages. Choose one native language spoken in Europe, discuss the origins of the vernacular language and describe how the language spread. As a whole, in what ways has Latin influenced Western language development? Prepare a 2-page essay (not including cover page and works cited page) answering the questions stated above in APA format. .

The Sept. 11, 2001 attacks against New York’s World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington reinforced the voices of those in the West who had spoken of a "fundamentalist" holy war exported to America. Fears of radical Islam and the continued threat of global terrorism have led many to warn even more confidently of a clash of civilizations. In some ways, the Cold War attitudes of the West towards communism have been replicated in the projection of a new global threat. The tendency of many governments, the media and political analysts was to conclude the existence of an inherently anti-Western global Islamic threat. Muslim rulers in Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, and the Central Asian Republics as well as Israel, India, the Philippines have used the danger of Islamic radicalism to attract American and European foreign aid and to deflect from the failures of their governments or the indiscriminate suppression of opposition movements, mainstream as well as extremists.

As the geographic territory under Roman control grew, the use of Latin as a common language also spread. In areas under Roman control, Latin was the spoken and written language of the courts and commerce, as well as the language of the Christian church. As the Roman Empire expanded, Latin served as a common language that allowed for people of diverse linguistic backgrounds to be able to communicate. Latin, like other languages past and present, had more than one form and changed over time because it was both written and spoken, and the educational level or social status of the writer or speaker often determined the final form of the language. Latin was also influenced by local languages spoken or written within the larger territory under the influence of what later came to be known as the Roman Empire. During the Carolingian Renaissance, throughout the reign of Charlemagne and his successors, the development of Latin literacy was greatly promoted. Although reading and writing were skills that some people had, literacy was not widespread before that time. Literacy in Latin was generally limited to people of the upper classes and members of the clergy. Charlemagne invited Alcuin of York to become his personal tutor and the head of his court school. Charlemagne charged Alcuin with the development of a literacy curriculum for children that would provide for their instruction in reading and writing, as well as for further study in the liberal arts and theology, thereby also furthering the Christian teachings that Charlemagne’s court promoted. The promotion of literacy impacted education and language throughout the region. The demand for material relating to the interests of the ruling military class increased. Over time, vernacular languages, the languages commonly spoken, began to be used by writers. Until the 12th century, Latin was the primary language used by writers. French writers began the trend of using vernacular language in the 12th century, and by the end of that century, some government and legal documents in England and France were composed in the vernacular. In the 12th century, literacy among women was also increasing. Though literacy in Latin was still somewhat limited to specific social classes, literacy in local vernacular languages was increasingly common. Eleanor of Aquitaine established the city of Poiters as a center for a literary movement focused on the art of courtly love. The troubadour and the female counterpart, the trobairitz, used poetry to share stories of romantic longing and unattainable love. This poetry represents the beginning of written expressions of love in the way romantic love continues to be perceived today. It focuses on the feelings associated with romantic love: longing, suffering, loss of appetite, temptation, loyalty, and a desire to do whatever possible to have the feeling of love reciprocated. As the poetry of the troubadour or trobairitz was recorded, it was written in the vernacular of the day. ...

11 Running Head: CHRISTIANITY IN THE MDDLE EAST Christianity in the Middle East Elizabeth Weeden Ottawa University CHRISTIANITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST Abstract A brief survey of events and occurrences from the first century to the present day. This survey outlines the background for understanding the complex questions in relation to the presence of Christians and their relationship with the other religions in the Middle East at the present time. Christianity in the Middle East Background Christianity has been a considerably dominant religious force over the past centuries. A lot of theories have been surrounded with a lot of myths in the society with various other religious societies such as the Hindu community having various ways of thinking and regards towards Christians. Expansion of Christianity into communities of other beliefs has been eminent even with the fact that it has been compounded with several issues. In the Middle East for example, questions have been raised about Christians and their religion. Being a Muslim dominated region it is hard for Christians considering the various radical beliefs entailed in Muslim culture (Chapman, 2012). The situation for Christians in these regions is a complex one and it is hard for students to make it in these regions. Various irritating questions have been asked of Christians and in this case the questions are normally very complex in nature in such a manner that some are forced to keep to themselves or reduce their exposure to the people of the other religious beliefs. With a total of around 15 million Christians in the Middle East –Arab Christians. These arab Christians claim to be in the bible in the sense that they are mentioned as “ God fearing Jews from every nation under Heaven “ regarded to have been present in Jerusalem on the historic day in relation to the bible mentioning. These kind of people are known to be happy and confident about their long presence within the region for over 2000 years. History The Christians in Iraq look back at the golden age of considered for the Eastern churches around the 5th and the 12th century where the gospel was focused and spread to India and Chinese countries, the Christians then made enormous contributions to the Islamic civilization (Chapman, 2012).With the Christians based in Lebanon considering themselves to be the descendants to Phoenicians and their continued confidence that they have been based in the region from the early Christian times. The Christians in current Egypt in a similar manner, also consider themselves to be the descendants of the ancient Egypt and therefore consider the Arab Muslims who overcame them around the 7th century as the foreign invaders. Christians in the current state in the Middle East can only look back at the comfortable life of the Christians in the region before (Iwuchukwu, Mariners, Siltner, 2013). At the moment, the situation is far m ...

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.

The Digital Insurer
In the thrilling conclusion to 2023, ransomware groups had a banner year, really outdoing themselves in the "make everyone's life miserable" department. LockBit 3.0 took gold in the hacking olympics, followed by the plucky upstarts Clop and ALPHV/BlackCat. Apparently, 48% of organizations were feeling left out and decided to get in on the cyber attack action. Business services won the "most likely to get digitally mugged" award, with education and retail nipping at their heels. Hackers expanded their repertoire beyond boring old encryption to the much more exciting world of extortion. The US, UK and Canada took top honors in the "countries most likely to pay up" category. Bitcoins were the currency of choice for discerning hackers, because who doesn't love untraceable money?
