1. Insomnia: Sam Crooke
In our production you are introduced to Sam Crooke who is one of the main
characters. He is a 66 year old former marine, this is good as he may suffer with post-
traumatic stress disorder so when he is in the graveyard he is watching John checking
on him making sure he is ok.
Sam is 6ft tall with dark hair and blue eyes. This character will have dark eyes to
show how he is quite the ominous character, he is generally in casual clothing as he is
retired and spends most of his time in his house alone since his wife passed away.
He is quite a wealthy character as he got a big pension after retiring from the navy he
lives alone has no pets, is Christian and has PTSD from the loss of his wife this is
why he is following John around making sure nothing bad happens to him or people
he’s associated with.
His family background is very vague as his wife is dead, he is an only child and has
no children and only close people to him are John and his family
Vanessa Hope Background.
Vanessa is 15 years old and is the (New) main character for the film, we went
with a female character because it has a bigger impact for the audience. She
has brown hair and light green eyes, she lives and was born in the UK and has
a nice family, but in the film we learn that her mother and father were killed
when she was young and now she lives alone in a social home where she gets
money from other relatives so she can stay there, her mental condition slowly
gets worse over time so it is hard for her to make any real connections with
anyone so when she is alone she talks to herself and blames herself for the
death of her parents. She also has one thing that she can use to find the killer,
when her mom and dad were killed the one who was closest to them at the
time was a man with a scar under his eye, knowing this she will do whatever
she can to find the killer. Because of her mental state she tends to jump to
conclusions easily and can make accusations about people without knowing
them, this is the main problem that she has as her actions cause her to lose
sight of what she should be doing, meaning that when all is said and done she
will be the one who gets into the most trouble.
Vanessa does not have any other relatives that live or lived with her besides
her parents, she is an only child meaning that when her parents died there
was no older sibling role model for her to follow so she went down her own
path, and there was no younger sibling that she could have looked after
meaning that she has more time alone to herself making her more anti-social
and awkward around people, especially around people she has not seen
before, she can be so nervous that her quick minded thoughts may make her
feel threatened if people get too close to her. This is one of the other reasons
why I think that the audience may feel sympathy for her, because she can't
trust most people because someone she doesn't know was the one who killed
her parents making her the way she is. In a sense this killer is the one who is
now controlling her life as she is devoted on finding out who it is and that will
be reassuring to the killer because if he knows more about her than she does
2. about him then he will be able to mind control her from the shadows leading
her further into insanity until she does something she can’t undo.
