- Pool resources…KCC designed the methodology, EK Services developed the tool and Canterbury CC designed the website Hack days aren’t new to public services…but the way we involve students is Developer days don’t deliver Approach Build strong relationships with local universities With departments that are relevant Understand how your requirements can align with course requirements Benefits Workshops are academically accredited Benefit for companies/government Must be academically engaging/relevant Prototypes are given three months of development to achieve higher quality prototypes Take advantage of university taught skills, e.g. product envisioning Story – Through the eyes of a youth service and ICT directors – How can ICT help tackle anti-social behaviour? Stimulate collaboration between public service staff, students, pupils, entrepreneurs and communities to develop collaborative research Work with the next generation for whom many of the new ways of researching & designing services they don’t see as R&D methods but what come naturally to them Although at one workshop we worked with an intergenerational art group, one of the grandmother’s there was sketching ideas with her iPad, which I’ve never used, so sometimes the next generation is where you least expect it
