Ahmadabad: The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organized workshop
'Effective Hiring Skills' in Rajkot on April 7 for the small and medium enterprises in
the region. The day-long programme focused on the change needed in the hiring
process by the local companies as they grow. So far hiring was based on reference
or amongst the relatives. However, as these companies are entering into a bigger
league, a corresponding change in the approach towards hiring is also required, feel
Kaushal Mandaliya, founder of Rajkot-based HR company Insight HR and Training
Consultants, who conducted the workshop."These companies are extremely sound
on technical side are suppliers to the global giants. However, it is very likely that lack
of proper care needed during hiring of employees has stunted the growth of the
company," Mandaliya told ET. "We taught them the right approach to identify the
most suitable candidate amongst the applicants so that he stays longer in the
company and does not disrupts the culture of the company. We have observed that
if right questions are asked during the interview, SME companies can get employees
with right skill sets and attitude," he added.
