I am in 5th grade. My
favorite subject is math.
I love hanging out with
my friends.I like giraffes
but, I didn’t know much
about them I had fun
writing this and I hope
you like it.
3. Who Am I ????
Giraffe:
Males are called bulls.
Females are called cows.
Young are called calves.
Giraffes tongues are black!
They are strong enough to
kill their only predator, the
lion. They usually sleep only
five minutes at a time!
Giraffes can gallop 31-37
mph! A giraffes tongue is 18
inches long! Giraffes can
survive a long time without
water.
4. The Early Years
A mother giraffe can have a
baby standing up. When the
baby is born it can be up to
six feet tall! In about one
hour after it’s born it will
begin walking. And it will
spend 16-20 hours a day
feeding. Sometimes mother
giraffes have a “daycare” for
other mothers, she watches
the babies for them while
they get food.
5. Habitat Sweet Habitat
Giraffes live in Africa.
Since they can go a
long time without
water, they are fine
with the heat. They
eat the leaves off
trees.
6. What’s on the Menu???
A giraffe eats only
leaves. Mostly
Acacia leaves. With
their long necks
they can reach the
tallest trees to get
their leaves.
7. Making Tracks
It’s tracks would be
found only on the
ground. In the
Savannas in Africa.

Each giraffe has a unique
pattern on their coat.
Giraffes are one of the
worlds most peaceful,
strong, and large
animals. They have
enough strength to kill
a lion. Giraffes have
been heard mooing like
cows. If a lion is kicked
by a giraffe it can die.
