2. Digi-pack – Website home page
Here is Charli XCX’s website home page and latest
album cover.
There is no correlation of colour schemes
between the website and the album, this
conforms to the alternative indie genre in that
the people within the genre don’t conform to
societies expectations. Also, it shows the artist as
being carefree.
The artists homepage is also set out like a blog,
where she can post images and videos of her life,
music and any updates. The use of a blog-like
homepage makes it look like the audience has an
insight into the artists life, also its like a diary that
keep them up to date. It also makes them seem
like average people, without fame, showing that
they don’t think they’re above everyone.
Alternative artists album covers are also often
very simplistic or symbolic - the audience has to
look for the meaning in the image rather than it
being given to them.
3. Audience
Charli XCX would target an active
alternative audience - this would be
due to the music style and how it is
quite diverse. One of her very popular
songs that a lot of people would be
familiar with “Boom clap” was about
to draw in a different audience
because it featured in a very popular
teen film, The fault in our stars. I
think, with the genre of music she is
apart of, her main target would be a
younger generation of an age range
of 14-25. This is due to the fact that
this age is roughly when people start
to adventure and look out for
different types of music they may like.
Charli XCX herself describes her music
genre as “pop with a punk energy”.
Because of Charli XCX being similar
to La roux, the type of audience she
targets will be similar to mine.
